    The white algae you are talking about is mostlikly dead coarline algea. For the high nitrates, do two 50% water changes (two days in a row), and your nitrates should be cut by about 80-100%

    It's not needed, as stated above.. but highly recommended. If you dont get a skimmer.. I recommend good size water changes weekly. at minimum I would do 50%

    how many lbs of this rock do you have and how big is you tank?? If you put in 70+ lbs of already cured LR.. your probably wont see anymore the a .25 or .5 spike on ammonia.. and that probably wont last for more then a day or two.

    im with the get it replaced crowd. I personally would take a chance with 'it's just a chip'. Your home and flooring is worth more then to take a chance.

    Human blood in my tank!

    I bled in my tank a few weeks back.. I can't say it was a big deal. I did the same thing. I cut my self and didnt know it. stuck my hand in the tank and then noticed I was bleeding. No problems from it that I can tell.

    almost all softcorals will do well under pc lighting, the ones you mentioned should be in the clear. However, VHO lighting is much better then pc lighting (imo), the intial cost is a little more but the bulbs last much longer and you will have more choices on corals later down the road...
