    Help Please

Actually snipe, the nitrites did go up for a few days as well but now they have fallen back down. I just expected them to stay up as long as the ammonia is staying up.

    Help Please

Okay, I am not exactly a new hobbyists but I think I certainly made an amateur mistake. I installed an ASM protein skimmer a couple of months ago and I thought I could get away with feeding a little bit more and not have to worry about it. WRONG!!! My levels have spiked and my water is cloudy. I...

    Aquarium Background

I guess you could always just put it on dry and tape it as well?

    Aquarium Background

What is the best way to apply a background? I have heard of people using baby oil, is that recommended?

Can someone please help me understand

I have cycled a 55 with damsels and they all lived. But I guess they probably suffer alot through the process.

Can someone please help me understand

I have a 250 gallon aquarium that I am trying to cycle. I do not have any liverock and sand as my substrate. I have a homemade wet/dry trickle filter with about 5 gallons of bio-balls in a 40 gallon sump area. I have had 6 damsels for about 3 weeks and I have put many dead shrimp in my sump...

Can anyone tell me if I am way off base here. Shouldn't I start seeing ammonia at some point?

    Ammonia

I am cycling the tank. Doesn't it have to show up first before the rest of the process can take place?

    Ammonia

I have two questions: I have had my 250 setup with six damsels and a whole bunch of dead shrimp in my sump for about 3 weeks. I am still not showing any ammonia at this point. Just more time? I have a 55 salt water as well I am getting a whole bunch of purple coraline. Is this a good thing?

    Agressive Tank

By the way I have had the damsels in for about 2 weeks and I am still not getting any ammonia. I have even added several dead shrimp in the sump area and I am still not getting a reading. More fish? More shrimp? More time?

    Agressive Tank

Wow, I guess you learn something new everyday. I believe what you are saying about the pump, I just don't understand how the pump being 3 feet down from the aquarium can creat a magnetic field. Does it actually travel with the water flow?

    Agressive Tank

    Agressive Tank

FOWLR sorry must have been fish only with live energy rock or something like that.

    Agressive Tank

Yes this will be a FOWLER. And to answer the question above I have a Mag 3600 which is probably pushing closer to 3000/gph with the drop that I have.

    Agressive Tank

I do not have a picture to post but I have a homemade wet/dry trickle filter with a mag 3600 pump. Roughly 5 gallons of bioballs and a 40 gallon sump area. The pump really circulates the water as you can imagine.

Also, what type of each of those would you recommend?
