    Green algae problem...

Hey guys, I've taken two photos of this green algae that's been slowly growing in my tank. I'm trying to identify it. It seems to have originated from the live rock I bought because the tank is only a few months old. My water is in nearly perfect condition and my phosphates are nearly...

    Is this a Trachyphyllia spp?

Sounds good. I think you're "probably" right about setting it face down in the sand! ha

    Is this a Trachyphyllia spp?

Since he's still attached to his rock... should he be facing straight up or does that matter?

    Is this a Trachyphyllia spp?

He looked a little stressed today so I moved him down to the sand bed. I'm going to attempt to feed tomorrow. Any ideas as to what I should feed him? I feed my other brain clam bits but he doesn't seem to be very picky. Any ideas would be great.

    Is this a Trachyphyllia spp?

Hey, I received this coral yesterday and I'm trying to ID it. I think it's a Trachyphyllia - Open Brain? I'm probably wrong :) I created a base for it out of Aquamend. It's about 8" down from the surface under a 250 watt hqi MH; do you think that's cool? Coral is about 3" across. Any info...

    R/O Unit ?

Mine is under my sink in the other room. I run a 30ish foot tube very discreetly to an auto top-off unit that's installed in my tank. Whenever the tank needs water it feeds itself.

    micro bubbles comming from sump

Not sure if you have the room but I did this for my bubble problem. Worked like a champ. In my case using the U pipe method didn't work because even though the pipe was turned to come back up about 9 inches (with a bubble chimney) it didn't decrease the velocity of the water so the bubbles...

    diy stand question

When I built mine I used 6" lag bolts. The bolts that went down from the top were just eyeballed to miss the ones going in from the side. I used 4x4 fence posts for the frame so I had room for flexibility.

****Protein Skimmer not skimming!!! Pls Help!

wow... that's not much. My AquaC skimmer had very specific directions about how deep it could be submerged into a sump so you might be on the right track. With a tank that size... how big is your skimmer? I have a 200 gallon and the profile of my skimmer is about 24" tall with a 6" diameter...

    DSB vs Bare bottom

I have a bare bottom in my sump because it didn't seem to benefit. I have a fair amount in the display. Now I just load my sump with LR and different types of sea grasses. Things don't get stirred up so bad when I tinker down there. I never considered doing bare bottom on the display because...

    is this good

Sounds pretty good to me. You may add more live rock for a little better filtration but other than that you're good to go. What kind of lighting do you plan to use?

hummm... they may be a bit to similar. You do have a big tank though. Worth a shot if they'll take him back. You know, I got a Red Sea Sailfin and he's fantastic looking. Peaceful too.
