Where to buy 70ish Gal. Tall acrylic tank?

When the aquarium arrived it had a big sheet of instructions on how to care for it and stuff which was very helpful. It also said it had a warranty against defects in workmanship but I can't remember how long. I'm sure if it was a workmanship flaw he'd honor it because he takes his reputation...

Where to buy 70ish Gal. Tall acrylic tank?

After I originally posted this message I bought one off ---- from a place called Acrylic Creations and it's superb. I think he's at acryliccreations.biz or something but he mainly sells on ----. What I liked most about his tank was that the returns come up out of the tank and then back in...

    Undissolved salt in new aquarium

right now it's only up to about 1.016 and I stopped adding. It is quite stubborn so I guess I'm going to throw it out and siphon the granules out tomorrow. It's a shame because you know how slow RO water is, it's precious. I stopped all the pumps I was using to keep it mixing because the...

    Undissolved salt in new aquarium

I'm finally filling my 70 gallon tank and my brother gave me some salt he had from about 2 years ago when he had a marine tank and about 5% of it will never dissolve. The salt was in a big sealed bag from Instant Ocean and looks very white and pure. It just keeps floating around in the tank...

    T5 Tek Light bulb life...

I just got my new "prized" Tek Light that my wife has no idea of the cost and I noticed it said the T5 bulbs had a life of 20000 hours. They claim to also have a much slower lumen loss and spectral shift than other bulb types on the market. I figured if I burn the bulbs for 12 hours a day for...

    What's a good small powerhead?

huh... a closed loop? What is that all about? I like the sound of that. In fact any info you can give me about that would be great because I'm still waiting on parts (refugium) before I can finish setting everything up. Thanks so much,

    What's a good small powerhead?

I'm trying to find a good powerhead for my new 65 gallon tall tank. I'd like one with a rotating head to create a good current in the system and most of all I'd like to find one that is small and relatively out of sight. Any ideas?

    Is Hard Water OK?

I have a small quarantine tank set up right now while I put together my larger tank and it's working out quite will as a "learning" tank. As I run all my tests I've noticed that my Total Water Hardness is quite high. Over 425 PPM which is as high as my test strips measure. Is this ok? My...

T5 Watt recomendations for 65g tall...

I have a 65 gallon tall tank (36x18x24) and I'm getting ready to buy a light fixture and was wondering how many watts per gallon I should go buy in a T5 fixture. I've talked to several online stores and LFS that say T5 setups can be a good bit lower in watts per gallon. I want to keep softies...

65 Gal. Tall Lighting Question (reef)

I've been looking at this hood with 1 175 watt MH with Dual 95 Watt VHO. Do you think that would be enough? I figured one of the VHO's could be Full Spectrum and one a Actinic. Or would it be better to get 2 175 watt MH and use 2 actinic?

65 Gal. Tall Lighting Question (reef)

I see, would you say SPS corals are easier to keep than anemones? I figured the opposite would be true but that's only based on a guess... ha. If I get the proper amount of metal halide which would be around 325 watts for a 65 gallon tank should I also get a Actinic light for the full spectrum...

65 Gal. Tall Lighting Question (reef)

I just bought a 65 gallon tall (36x18x24) acrylic tank and empty-hooded stand and I was wondering what kind of lighting system I should get? I've been looking around on ---- but I'm not sure how many watts I need or what type is best for a 24" deep aquarium. The stand came with no lighting...

70 Gal. Acrylic and hood question

I'm thinking about getting a new aquarium and I'm new to this. I was wondering if I would have any problems buying the hood and stand if I buy the aquarium separately. The 70 gal. acrylic aquarium is Tall so it measures 36" X 18" X 24" and I'm not sure if the hoods have to be those exact...

Where to buy 70ish Gal. Tall acrylic tank?

Does anyone know of a good website or place online to buy a 70ish gal. Acrylic reef ready tank? I need to stay within about 36 inches in length and it seems like a 70 gallon tall is about as big as I can get. Been scopin' ---- but it seems like there’s probably a good website somewhere that...

    Live rock and bio balls?

I was talking to my LFS and he told me if I had the proper amount of live rock I wouldn't need to use bio balls in my wet/dry. He showed me a few set-up's he had around the store and it consisted of about 1.5 lbs of live rock per gallon, no bio balls in the wet/dry and a protien skimmer sitting...

    Sand / Live Rock

Do you think it's best to get a fine or course grain sand for the bottom of a new tank setup? Also, it seems like I don't really need to buy live sand if I'm going to buy 50 or more lbs of live rock. Is that true? I'd like to buy 20 or so lbs or live sand and the rest dead because of the...
