    Problem keeping Shrimp Alive

What particular conditions are needed to keep shrimp alive? I have an 80gal reef tank with healthy corals and fish that I've had for a year now with no problems but for some reason shrimp won't last more than a week in my tank. I've heard they can't tolerate salinity changes and need iodine but...

    Water Quality Problems!

Grogg, thanks for the input and I will definitely be doing more smaller water changes than one big one. I hope that will work.

Aiptasia in my star polyps ...

Don't let them be, they will just grow and spread. You need to kill them by either injecting them with calcium or buying a shrimp. Good luck.

    Water Quality Problems!

I have an 80gal. reef tank that has been set up for eight months. I have a 30 gal sump/refugium, skimmer, and 100lbs. of live rock. I have various soft corals with frogspawn, hammer coral, and torch coral being the only stony corals. I feed them cyclops or bioplankton once every three days or...

    firefish question

What size is your tank? Is there one in there now? If so quarantine it and then put it back in with the new firefish. They should get along fine but there is never a 100% guarantee. I've never had a problem with my firefish fighting though.

    misbehaving kitty...help

Give your kitten a lot of play toys and put something heavy on your garbage can where the kitten can't knock it over. I have a dog who likes to get in the trash and that's what I do...it has worked so far.

    purple firefish question

I'm in the same situation and my LFS said the purlple fire fish that is already established in the tank will probably pick on the new one. There's always the chance that it won't but I know how hard it can be to get fish back out of a reef tank so I didn't buy another one. They are awesome fish...

    CLAMS

These clams are certainly exquisite. I notice that they are on rocks instead of in the sand. I've always been told they should be in a sandbed but seeing how some on here have been place on rocks I suppose that is okay.

Coral that doens't need light requirements?

You reduce the flow so the food can settle on the coral so it can feed, otherwise high current would just take the food along with it and the coral doesn't have a chance of getting any food. In my experience and I'm sure some would disagree, having to special feed anything besides your fish on a...

    Garlic

You want to soak your fish food in garlic juices. You can either soak your fish food in garlic that you crush yourself or buy a bottle of garlic juice from your LFS. You never want to put any garlic pulp into your tank, just the juices that you soak your food in.

    feeding corals and fish

What I have heard is variety is the best way to go when it comes to feeding fish. Mysis shrimp is great but you should vary their diet with other vitamin enriched food from your pet store or make your own. I go to the market and buy raw oysters, clams, squid, etc. and mash it up in a small...

    arrow crabs???

As far as I know arrow crabs won't eat inverts. I have one and it hasn't touched any of my inverts. It is an amazing scavenger though. Any little piece of food that touches the sand he is on it. I have even seen him steal food from one of my gobies that hangs out at the bottom.

Can red lipped blenny live with bicolored blenny?

I have an 80 gallon tank and have had 2 midas blennys in it for almost 4 months now. They are total buddies and love to play with each other. Their favorite pastime is playing hide in seek in the rock work and the barnacles.
