    Tank downsizing

My M. grouper is in a 8 foot x 2 foot tank all by himself, in my basement, since his tankmate (V.Lion) died last year. I'd really like to bring him upstairs, but I haven't got room for that tank up here. What would be the smallest tank size I could house him in without causing him stress? I know...

Tell me a little about the Harlequin Tusk

I certainly wouldn't keep one with a grouper - I made that mistake once! I had to put in a divider to seperate them, and even then my grouper was like a pit bull at a fence, charging at the divider, trying to get at the HTF. The HTF was fine with smaller fish, too, I think they're much more...

    Chromis with Grouper!

Catching the grouper is all but out of the question - I caught him once before and it was scary! It's amazing how much power he has and how high/fast he can jump. He was nearly managing to clear the top of the tank from just a small flick of the tail, in only enough water to let him breathe. I...

    Chromis with Grouper!

I have a slight problem - since I lost my V. lion I have put a divider in my 220 so I could put some smaller fish in, for a bit of a change - colour and activity. My Miniatus grouper still has 6' x 2' x 2' all to himself, and I have a 2' x 2' x 2' space for just a few smaller fish. I bought 3...

    Nurse shark

Is the "Nurse shark" the same species as the Australian "Grey nurse"? From pics I've seen, they look like a similar shape, but the Australian ones have huge teeth that project outside their mouths, even while they are shut. Are we talking about the same species? If so I couldn't imagine anyone...

What is the smallest aggressive carnivourous fish you can get with a small tank?

If aggression is your thing, go fresh water and put in a breeding pair of convicts. The pink ones look the best IMO, and they are a ball to watch. If you're not into equal rights and political correctness you'll love the male con!

    Eel Questions

A while back my LFS "Did me a favour" and got me a good Moray for cheap. Stupid me, took his word that it was just a Moray, and would be harmless to my Miniatus Grouper and V. Lion. Later I found out it was a Tesselata, thanks to this site, and the regular posters. Anyway, I ended up selling it...

    Anyone ID my new eel?

My tess IS the only thing in the tank - He's in a 55 by himself. I'm not prepared to risk it with my grouper, he's already become a pet. I'm still trying to find tessy a new home. Do you have any links to these pics Hammerhead?

You couldn't put the grouper into the dt? What have you got in that at the moment? From my ver limited experience with groupers, there's not too many fish they seem to get along with....

for all you newbs who want a damsel...

Chromis are a damsel too, and they're peaceful. I caught a blue damsel once, with a net, got up early while it was still dark, turned on the tank light, chased the damsel out from behind his rock with a small net, straight into the big net round the front - still dunno if it was just a fluke, or...

    Whos got grouper pics?

Groupers must just have an inbuilt hatred of tusks! Maybe because they are a similar shape, and even color, but smaller?

    Whos got grouper pics?

Here's mine - http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee98/chuggstas/ I wouldn't put 2 in a 125, I reckon there'd be violence! Mine is very terrritorial, doesn't like other fish at all. He even tries to attack my v. lion. I've only had him a month or so, and couldn't get him to eat for the first...

    Grouper still not eating

He's eating! I had a few damsels behind a divider, and I was that worried about his not eating last night I "Sacrificed" them to him. They swam around safely last night, but were gone this morning. Don't know if it was the grouper that ate them, or the V.lion, or both, but I dropped a small cube...
