    Suppliment problem

I was wondering if you guys and gals turn off your protein skimmer when you dose your tanks. Also, how long do you leave them off. I was thinking that I am loosing suppliments due to the use of the protein skimmer while dosing. It seems that my levels will not increase when I leave it on...

    Tank setup

What I meant about the fish is that we are debating on getting a snowflake eel or not. The question is about the set up underneath the main tank. I just wanted to know how your sump is set up. Nate

    Tank setup

We just received a 55 gallon tank for free and it is going to be an agreesive tank. I know that we have decided on a porky, but the jury is still out on what the other fish will be. My question is, what type of setup do you have underneath your tank? Do you have a sump with just a protein...

    desire of reef info.

If you can afford it, I recommend that you place all of the live rock in the tank while it is cycling. Your ammonia and traes levels are sky high any ways. Sometimes if you place the rock in after the tank has cycled, it will have to cycle all over again. Trust me, I know from experience. I...

    I feel stupid

I actually recommend placing the live rock in your tank while it is cycling. This will speed up the process. I also recommend putting live sand in there also. You will really enjoy the live rock, because you never know what will grow out of it.HTH. Nate ;)

    Skimmers

Hey Trey, do you have a diagram of how you built that. I have seen many out there and I am getting pretty confused. All of them are telling me different things to use. Would it be better to use PVC or acrylic? What would you recommend and if you do have instructions or diagrams, that would...

    Red Hair algae?

There is a medication that you can put into your tank called Chemi-clean. It is a powder that you just drop into your tank and it dissolves. This will clean it up in about 2 days, depending on how much you have. You can usuallly purchase it at your lfs. HTH

    Anemone's Diet....

I didn't get to finish the last part of my reply. The anemone does need a good light source, because they feed off of zooxanthellae. You will notice this in the sabea, because he will start changing colors. You will need to feed them the shrimp about once a month and the rest of the time...

    Anemone's Diet....

You can use either one of those. I don't know how big you tank is or anything, but the goal of it is to place the food directly in front of the anemone. They will catch the food in their tenticles and proceed to eat it. What type of lights do you have for the sabea? [ May 09, 2001: Message...
