    Kalkwasser through an auto top-off?

I'd like to start using kalkwasser at night for my replacement water. But, I have a Tunze automatic top-off system. It maintains my salinity PERFECTLY :cheer: and I really love it. Is it safe to run kalk through an auto top-off system? Or, would I need to drip it at night only through...

    Tropic Marin salt

I'm making a test switch of my salt brands from Coralife to Tropic Marin. I got my first tub of TM but to my dismay, there are no directions for mixing. Anybody know how much TM salt to add to my RO/DI to come up with a 1.025 concentration?

    Green chromis

They are less aggressive than damsels. They would be appropriate for your 180; either 3 or 5 would be fine...depending on what else you're planning on adding to your tank.

    Battery back-up system

I had a power outage a couple nights ago and my tank got alittle cold. Is there such a thing as a battery back-up system that anyone knows about? If so, where would I get one and how do I calculate the size I would need?

    High Nitrate Levels

I had the exact problem with my tank that I purchased used. In the end, I had to buy a small QT tank and transfer my livestock to that tank. Then I had to completely tear the display tank down and replace the substrate. You can reserve a little of the old sand to layer on top of your new sand...

    Upgrade or not?

I had an old 75 gal Oceanic tank that wasn't reef ready...tons of problems with algae and nitrates. I don't have room for any more tank than that so I had the back drilled. That made it possible to add a 30 gal sump and a 29 gal fuge. It's a great reef tank now and it wasn't that expensive to...

    Mysis Shrimp

I bought some live mysis shrimp. After my fish took to those, they became meat lovers of all sorts. They now go crazy when I put in the frozen mysis or even bits of fresh shrimp from the grocery store.

    salifert KH/Alk test instructions

    1) Add with the 5 ml syringe 4 ml of water in the test vial. For a lower resolution and more tests per kit add 2 instead of 4 ml. 2) Shake the KH-Ind dropping bottle a few times and add 2 drops in the test vial (1 drop for the low resolution mode). 3) Put the plastic tip firmly on the 1 ml...

    Montipora plate corals

I really like the montipora plate corals. I currently have a frogspawn, meat coral, plate coral, moon coral, turbanaria, and some blastos. Would it be possible to have some montipora in this system? I have six 65 wt TEK t-5 lights on my 75 gal tank with Tunze turbelles for flow.

    Here comes a N-e-w-b-y

Don't waste your money buying a single thing until you've spent a couple of months researching what you would like to accomplish with your tank. Then, understand that the end cost will be at least 10 times more expensive than you think it will be right now.
