I'm making a test switch of my salt brands from Coralife to Tropic Marin. I got my first tub of TM but to my dismay, there are no directions for mixing. Anybody know how much TM salt to add to my RO/DI to come up with a 1.025 concentration?

They are less aggressive than damsels. They would be appropriate for your 180; either 3 or 5 would be fine...depending on what else you're planning on adding to your tank.

I had a power outage a couple nights ago and my tank got alittle cold. Is there such a thing as a battery back-up system that anyone knows about? If so, where would I get one and how do I calculate the size I would need?

It depends on how bad you want to keep everything healthy...I'd be heading out to Walmart. Or, you could crank up the heat in the house.

I had the exact problem with my tank that I purchased used. In the end, I had to buy a small QT tank and transfer my livestock to that tank. Then I had to completely tear the display tank down and replace the substrate. You can reserve a little of the old sand to layer on top of your new sand...

I bought some live mysis shrimp. After my fish took to those, they became meat lovers of all sorts. They now go crazy when I put in the frozen mysis or even bits of fresh shrimp from the grocery store.

I really like the montipora plate corals. I currently have a frogspawn, meat coral, plate coral, moon coral, turbanaria, and some blastos. Would it be possible to have some montipora in this system? I have six 65 wt TEK t-5 lights on my 75 gal tank with Tunze turbelles for flow.

Don't waste your money buying a single thing until you've spent a couple of months researching what you would like to accomplish with your tank. Then, understand that the end cost will be at least 10 times more expensive than you think it will be right now.

I have heard that the small peppermints are better at eating aptasia than the larger ones.

I'm getting ready to do a water change tomorrow. I've developed some bubble algea on the sand. Would it be okay to simply vacuum it up?
