    Ident Anemone

Here is a closer look at the tentacles, if that will help. They have ridges on them and the tips are not bubbled at all, just a small white tip.

    Ident Anemone

I wasn't sure. I used to have a Condy but it didn't have the rings or ridges on the tentacles. I think the Condy also had pink or purple tips. Could be though this is just a wierd one.

    Ident Anemone

I have this anemone someone gave me almost 2 years ago. It has since spit out a baby that has grown to the size of the original, about 3" oral disk. They have a long column that is basically white with tan stripes. The thing is I don't have a clue as to what kind of anemones they are. They...

    Shaving Brush Plants

I know what you mean. They smelled pretty bad when I opened the bag, but none have disintegrated yet. They all seem to be holding together and the stalks are still a light green. Maybe there is some hope for them yet. It has only been a day so maybe they will snap out of it.

    Shaving Brush Plants

I just received some shaving brush plants yesterday from Saltwaterfish.com. I temperature acclimated them for about a half an hour before putting them in the tank. I have metal halide lighting and placed them in a well lit area. This morning they all look a pale green, almost white. Is this...

    Lethargic Seahorses

Thank you for all your help and advice. I will probably leave them in the QT for the weekend. They are alert and have good eye movement, but they are still breathing about 60 times/minute. I guess that is a little fast as my other horses in the seahorse tank are breathing about half that. I...

    Lethargic Seahorses

I added some Methelene Blue to the hospital tank yesterday. This morning they look much better. They are hitching on some plastic plants and are upright. Hopefully they will snick some food pretty soon, so I can get them back in the main tank.

    Lethargic Seahorses

The breeder has been feeding them on PE frozen Mysis for quite some time. I am using the same.

    Lethargic Seahorses

They are still lethargic. They don't seem to be eating yet, although it is has only been about 24 hours since I received them. I will try feeding them in a little while and see what happens. I am looking for the email address for the breeder to see if they have any ideas. Thanks

    Lethargic Seahorses

I have a started a 30 g. Seahorse tank. The tank has been up and running for about 9 months and has live rock and a few snails. The temp is 73.5F, SG 1.024, Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates <10. 1 small power head for movement and a hang on protein skimmer and sump for filtration. I just...

How to make a Pod Rock.

It works great. By the next morning I was loaded with crawling pod critters all over the rock. I can't wait for the rock to get some growth on it so it doesn't stand out so much. It should be great for a Mandarin Dragonette later on.

How to make a Pod Rock.

Never heard of it leaching metals into the tank. I know some people use limestone as their base rock without any problems. Most limestone around here doesn't look like it has any metal content in it whatsoever, just calcium carbonate.

How to make a Pod Rock.

I was wanting more pods to grow in my tank and I found a way to make a pod rock in about 10 minutes. I went outside and found a small piece of limestone (which is easy here in Missouri). I took a small chisel and split the rock on the cleavage point down the middle. Then using a grinding...

    Question about Formalin

A friend of mine started a reef tank about the same time I did. Around January 07. His tank is 50 gal. and mine is 60. We both have a fuge. Quite awhile back his clowns and damsels started to get ich. To my better judgement he dosed his tank with about 50 drops of Formalin. Well the ich...

    White stuff on Live rock?

Yes I do have some green algae growing, but not near as bad as it was. The tank is only about 5 months old and the live rock is just now showing some purple spots cropping up. I was told that the green algae would eventually disappear. I do put the rocks in a bucket of saltwater and scrub it...

    White stuff on Live rock?

I have this white stuff with short sprouts growing on my LR. It is about the size of a quarter. They dont move and It doesn't seem to be speghetti worms as I also have some of them on my Spiney oyster. I was wondering if it was some type of polyps or anemone. Although it seems to be well...

    Stages of Live Rock?

Thanks, I will try to look around late at night to see what might be going on in there...I kinda figured it would take awhile to see some action and some more color to develop. I will have to just learn to let nature take it's course in the tank. Thanks for all your help.

    Stages of Live Rock?

Could anyone tell me the stages of Live rock. I have had the live rock in my tank for a week now and can't tell any difference in it. How long does it take to start seeing some changes? I hear of so many people having hitchhikers on their LR, but I have not seen anything unusual crawling...

    Live rock arriving late?

Thanks, I just called FedEx again and it seems it is sitting in Memphis (about 200 miles from me) so it sounds like it won't be here until tomorrow. I don't know how a 2nd day air package can take 4 days. So I hope I don't get a box of Ammonia when it arrives. Thanks again,
