License to Drive vs. Right to Travel

Write to travel vs privilege to drive are two different subjects. Write to travel is the freedom to move from state to state. The privilege to drive is granted to those willing to abide by the laws, anything else would be anarchy.

FOWLR and a phosphate/nitrate reactor a good idea?

Oh, just in case anyone had a question about stock. If anything it is under stocked as I took my 2 large angels out a few months back, they were getting picked on so I put them back in my 120 gal until I can either trade or sell them locally.

FOWLR and a phosphate/nitrate reactor a good idea?

I have been having some issues with red slime algae and was curious if it would be recommended to get to media reactors, one for phosphate and the other for nitrate. I got a 2in deep sand bed, and half of my 240 gal is stacked full of live rock. A fluval FX5, and 2 wet dry's underneath each...

Coral Beauty and Emperor Angel together???

Yes, in a 265 gal you can have multi angels. Especially if one is a dwarf and the other is a large angel. I've done this and seen it done several times with no issues. The issues start when you have either 2 large angels together or 2 dwarfs together.

Please let this be enough filtration for a 240 gal

And I have heard the exact oppostite. What I have been told by others is that the UV is highly recommended in a fowlr tank like I will have, just not in a reef tank which I don't want. And with the amount of bioload my large fish and eel create a good mechanical filtration system was...

Adding new stock now that I'm upgrading to a 240 gal

First hand knowledge is always better than second hand. So I take it t amount of time the zebra spends out and about totally depends on the individual, possibly?

Please let this be enough filtration for a 240 gal

One reason why I only have that skimmer is that my stand only allows for 21" on the inside, this was the biggest and what I think may be the best that would fit into my stand. I just have enough room for the FX5 also. I do have a sump on my smaller fish tank that eventually I will be taking...

Adding new stock now that I'm upgrading to a 240 gal

You are not the first person to tell me that the zebra never comes out so I will start listening. However I am going to have a hard time giving up the idea of the Miniatus Grouper, but if I do get it he will be the last addition to the tank so I do have time to ponder it. The dogface I wasn't...

Please let this be enough filtration for a 240 gal

That's one reason when I buy I always buy replacement parts also. I have spare lights for the UV, spare media for the fluval etc.

Adding new stock now that I'm upgrading to a 240 gal

I just got all the equipment needed for my 240 gal tank which means after a few weeks of cycling I will be adding some of my current fish from my 120 and some new fish. What do you think of this list for my 240. Purple Tang (already have) Emperor Angel (already have) Picasso Trigger (already...

Please let this be enough filtration for a 240 gal

I just purchased that last of what I hope is the needed equipment to set my 240 gal back up. I tore it down when I moved and put the filtration equipment in my 120 now it's time to get both tanks going. I just purchased the following; Fluval FX5 canister, rated at 400 gal Wet/dry filter rated...

How can you not want a reef tank?

Easy solution to this situation, get 2 tanks. I agree with most of previous posts. Now people will say that just doubles your cost. I disagree, it prevents you from stocking and going too quick. Add a little in this tank, add a little to the other tank. It's slower and healthier.

    T5 and anemones?

Michael, keep me informed on how that anemone does under your T5, lets see how it recovers. How deep is your tank?

    T5 and anemones?

Hm, interesting, even this site recommends MH for carpets. I also have 2 other sites that list the long tentacle as moderate lighting and the carpet as a high lighting need. Although this is the only site that does specifically state MH within the description of the invert and that is why I...

    T5 and anemones?

I will try to pick anemones that require med lighting like a long tentacle as apposed to a carpet. Although a carpet is what I was hoping for. Your opinion on this anyone? P.S. The first couple replys here really did surprise me. Just laughing it off.

    T5 and anemones?

I am looking to purchase a 8 x 80 watt T5 fixture that does have independent reflectors, my tank is 120 gal 5ft and is 24" deep. Will I have a problem with supporting anemones with a T5, or do they require MH. There is a MH that is available for approx the same price but it is a cheaper brand...

    T5 Vs MH

That was a great point, it is a single brace and that means one of the MH lights would sit right above it. I didn't think of that.
