    Aiptasia is "gone", pretty much

Thanks for the feedback-I have cut down substantially on the feeding the last few months (my canister filter broke and I used to feed heavy and then clean up the water after each feeding with a new paper cartridge) and I do have a peppermint shrimp so maybe it's been helping me with the...

What would you like to see improve in America?

That Americans, and by that I mean ALL of us myself included (and politicians in particular-You know who you are!), start looking at the big picture, the entire country, the long term, and stop saying Me! Me! Me!, my state, my county, my city, my house, my car, my job, my everything, all the...

    Aiptasia is "gone", pretty much

I had a huge aiptasia problem earlier this year in my 55 gal reef tank and after ordering and using Aiptasia X, I don't have the infestation anymore. It's still there, a few individuals in different locations, but it is as if it has reached some kind of balance with the other inhabitants in the...

    Amazing!!!

I have seen my cleaner shrimps steal food from my anenome, but never bring it back! When I had the anenome I always used to feed the shrimps and the fish first, then feed the anenome so that they would be distracted. Worked sometimes!

    Cleaner Shrimp

Once they get used to the tank, and to you, they should get right on your hand when you put it in the water. My cleaner shrimps will walk all over my hand looking for dead skind or parasites to eat. yeah, they are a very cool addition to a tank.

    Live Rock Stacking

Agree on not gluing the rock together: I still, after a couple of years of operating my 55 as a reef setup, do move some rocks around and do a little re-aquascaping here and there. One comment on your rock arrangement: I suggest making sure that you have enough room between the rock structure...

    coral question

I like it and my corals really react to it, extending their polyps everytime I feed them some.

    doing water changes

I do 10 gallons every two weeks on my 55 gal reef tank by mixing up the SW in a couple of 5 gal buckets and letting it sit over night to aerate and warm up, then just siphon the old stuff out and pour the new back in by way of the sump. Definatly want to let it sit and mix for awhile so you can...

    base rock? coraline?

I have gone through a couple of spells of adding base rock to my 55 gal reef tank: I build it up, then give away some LR when I re-aquascape, then I just got about 30 more lbs of base last week when I decided once and for all to make the rock taller again. My LR is full of coaraline and it will...

    How Could you??

I had to go hug my dog, again, after reading the post. It makes me so angry and so sad to think about how people treat dogs, as if they are a piece of furniture. I rescued a dog from the shelter about 17 years ago and I swear that until the day he died at the age of 15, he never forgot that i...

    Dogs and Lymphoma

Aww, what a cutie! I feel for you and what you are going through, and wish you the very best in the time he has left with you. I said goodbye to my 16 YO husky mix in Oct 2006 and I still miss her, even though I have a wonderful new dog (the brown one in my avatar). My old dog lived every day to...

bio balls in a reef tank

Good post by Joe above. I have bioballs in my 55gal reef tank and they work fine for me. I clean them about every six months and when I went from FOWLR to a reef tank, I found that they stayed much cleaner-less fish poop and food getting in there, but mainly due to my being better about water...

    putting GSP in my tank

In my experience it isn't that bad, but if it is in a good environment, it will spread and do very well if it has adjacent rockwork to spread to. I hacked my clump in half with a meat cleaver-went right through the rock too-put one piece in my nano tank at work and the other back into my DT and...
