    Help making salt water

It is SUPPOSED to be 1/2 cup per gallon. But it is usually never the case. I always have to add a little more. Sometimes a cup or two. I mix 20-30 gallons at a time.

40lbs of sand for 46g is that enough?

I hear that deep sand beds are 6" or more. It has more biological filtration with a deep sand bed.

How do I get my anemone to say put?

I hear you can scoop out a small hole for it ot place it's foot in. Once it finds a comfortable place to place it's foot then it will stay put.

40lbs of sand for 46g is that enough?

Well being that your 46g is probably is a bowfront I would only assume that you would need the 40lbs and maybe and additional 5 or 10 lbs. if you go by the calculator. IMO I think the 40lbs would be enough. It is a matter of preference of how deep you want your sand bed. I had 40 lbs. in my 55...

40lbs of sand for 46g is that enough?

I hear the rule of thumb (unless you are going for a deep sand bed) is one pound per gallon. I have 180 lbs in my 180 and it gives me 2-3" of sand. And yes put at least some base rock directly on the glass for your diggers.

please RESCUE ME, TORTURE FOR MONTHS

I would stop dosing anything. Water changes replenishes any trace elements that your corals need. Especially something as easy as xenia. Mine grow crazy and all I do is water changes. Also it may be your water source. I know some LFS around here have some questionable practices. I was buying...

    Anemone Questions/Help!

What kinda lights do you have. Are they power compacts? If so they will not be enough to suffice a photosynthetic animal such as an anenome. Or, maybe it is still aclimating.

    New commer to saltwater tank

You can go ahead and add the shrimp after the cycle. I would be weary getting a puffer with any inverts. Seems like the fish list is too many. You might have to settle for less. Also, are you planning on corals in the future. If so then the butterfly is out as well. Sorry. Research each and...

    New commer to saltwater tank

I am sure that on this site you will get some nice live rock and sand. I ordered from here many times but not sand or rock. I was never disappointed. I would get a few small pieces of dry base rock. Place directly on the bottom. Now cover that with the sand. I do this because I usually have...

    dont know what to use.

Look at the bulb/bulbs. It should either be two bulbs stuck together (power compact) or one larger strip bulb (T8). How many switches do you have? Does it have a hood?

How often do you feed your BTA

I feed once a week if I do not notice the Clarkii's feeding them. They take real good care of their anenomes. If I feed the tank they always grab a larger piece of food for the anenome. If I don't see them feeding them I give them some mysis or small pieces of chopped up fresh shrimp. Mine are...

opinions on my tank of death

I've never done it. But I think that if you introduce chemicals/antibiotics into the tank then it will be stuck in the silicone and leech out later and kill any inverts and stuff. I dunno.

I also seen someone put some nori in a blender and use a dry base rock and poor it over the base rock and let it dry in the sun. = instant algae rock. I dunno. I would try a rubberband first.

    Kole Tang & Sailfin Compatible?

I have a powder blue, kole, and sailfin in my 180. The only issue is that the powder blue was the last one added and my foxface and him had to work out some "issues". Now they are cool. IMO Yellow tangs are way too aggressive. I've tried them before and they are such bullies.

Try rubber-banding it to a rock.
