    $29 Naso

I have had tried twice before to get a Naso from SWF and they never adapted to the tank and wouldn't eat. It is my favorite fish so I tried again. After some research I bought some live brine, PE Mysis, and sea lettuce. I have had the new Naso for two weeks now and he is eating good, looks...

Have any of you heard of this...

no need to feed sps unless you are running one of the low nutrient systems like zeovit. Fish poo, stable chemistry, light and flow are all they need.

Have any of you heard of this...

it raised my phosphates to the point of a cyano outbrake. Might be good for a low nutrient system, but it was not good for mine. Actually rtn'd a couple of my frags from the phosphate spike.

    Emerald eating birdsnest

emerald crabs are not redish/orangish color, they are emerald color. the crab is most likely not a reef safe crab. Get him out.

    New to SPS. Question.

acros are very sensitive and brown out pretty easy. The key is to keep your water parameters as stable as can be. One of the most important parameters for acros is KH. I like to keep mine at 9dkh, but you will find people have success anywhere from 7 to 13. the key is stability, any swings...

    Flowerpot Coral Dying?

sounds like Cyano Bacteria. It is generally from high phosphates. Do a large (50%) water change and run some kind of phosphate removing media.

need help to understand my water lvls and effects

What you saw was your calcium precipitating from the alk being kind of high and the calcium high. 13 is a little high but you would be better off not dosing any buffer and let it come down naturally. small water changes will do little to change parameters. Also check and see what your fresh...

    chaeto help please

If you are just running a standard 75w bulb, you need to buy one of the 6500k, 75w, pc, spotlights. Go to home depot or lowes and look for it. it looks like a miniature spotlight but you can see the power compact glass inside of it.

    Wrasse Id

I have that exact fish and they called it a "blue sided fairy wrasse". I think I saw him two time the first three weeks, but now he is out all the time. Nice fish either way, but mine seems to like shrimp. Including my $30 cleaner

new sps coral (pics) superman monti

I bought a browned out wild colony that turned into a very nice tricolor. I have 3 of the 7 wild colonies I bought. Two turned out pretty nice and one is still pretty brown. I have seen some browned out wild colonies turn out as nice as any "LE". Like Saltn00b said, they all came from the...

new sps coral (pics) superman monti

I may be wrong, but those acros look wild/maricultured. I have not had much luck with those. Not that you won't, but they seem to die in about two months for me. I figure they had trouble adapting from natural sunlight and saltwater to my artificial reef. So if they die don't be to hard on...

    Beginner SPS

I think your flow may be a little low for acros. You will probably be ok with the purple cap. SPS like high, random flow. you don't get that with one hydor 3. The return pump probably does not give much flow. You also need to keep nitrates and phosphates to a minimum. Any fast spike or...

Is this a good sign in my fight against cyno

I would use some kind of phosphate removing media if I were you. I got rid of my cyano in a week with a polyfilter sponge and a 50% water change. That was a few years ago when my tank was new. I still put half of a sponge in my canister filter to prevent any phosphate buildup. The longer it...

    Ideal parameters for SPS

Thank you, I did not know that. I guess i will have to order one online. For some reason none of my lfs carry them. One store has a Seachem one for $52, but that just seemed outrageous. That would probably explain why my kh drops a lot faster than my calcium. I still have to dose buffer...

Blue Hippo Tang Min. Tank size?

i bought a small one in my 75g knowing I am upgrading in a year. It is growing very fast. I have had him for about three months and it and it has gone from 1.5" to about 3". I feed Nori every day and two or three cubes of frozen food. I have a pretty heavily stocked 75.

    Stress coat---good or bad

I used it in my reef and I had to shut my skimmer down for two weeks. I usually use RO/DI, but I had to top off with some tap water. I added the stress coat to get rid of the chlorine. It was only a small amount and I could not turn my skimmer down low enough to keep it from overflowing in 10...
