    pipe organ coral

I have a neon green pipe organ and he has been growing for over a year. It is on the upper rock work of a 90 gallon with 2-175 watt m.h. 15k xm's and 440 vho actinic. It gets direct current from the returns to keep any detritus and algae off. It continues to grow upward and outward and as it...

    drip kalkwasser

Obviously i can't answer for everyone but i would say yes most do at night to keep the ph from falling too low at night. I looked at it differently because i have a reactor on another tank and it runs 24/7 so why not do the same with a manual drip. I use a little less powder than they recommend...

JUMP!!!! On the Mystery wrasse? ANYONE that may have one

A mystery wrasse is not known for eating bristleworms. I have one and i have never seen him go at any of them. Most of the bristleworm activity is at night and when the lights go out he goes into his cave and goes to sleep so i can't say for certainty. For that price you can't go wrong but if...

    Reef water temps

The chiller is the way to go. I have had alot of tanks over the years and i am running 6 reefs now and i would not want to run them without one. I keep the temps at a max high of 81 in the summer months and 79 in the winter. Stability is the key. This is an issue that will long be argued. I am a...

    Angelfish

As like everyone else i have had mixed luck with the angels. I have a coral beauty in one reef and not one problem. It is in with lps and softies and clams. I had a golden angel in another reef and it developed a taste for cynarinas and scolymias and was removed. I have a bellus angel in one...

    drip kalkwasser

There are plenty of threads on here to help you with it. Do your research because you can really screw up your tank if you do not know what you are doing. Most kalk mixes will tell you one to two teaspoons of powder per gallon of water. You have to adjust the drip rate according to your tanks...

    Rare Corals

Well it's not really a morph. It's what they refer to as a wall or scrolling frogspawn. It's like the two versions of a hammer coral. They are a little less common than the branching type but nowhere near that much. The most expensive i have seen was $80 and it was quite large. From what i have...

acro crab or crab of doom?

Get a pair of tweezers and get it out. It should have blueish eyes as well. I have watched them on a lot of my acros and they eat the tissue. The other is safe and will keep the algae off and predators away. Good luck.

    10 watts Per Gallon-overkill?

I personally don't know of any other way to do a chiller. They are either flow through or coil drop in. Are your lights going to be on feet? If they are off the top somewhat and your house is cool enough you may not need one. I keep my reef at 78. There is alot of debate on temp. Most acros come...

    10 watts Per Gallon-overkill?

I have a 75 gallon lit with 2 400 watt m.h. and 220 watts of vho. I have sps and clams on the top level but i also have clams almost on the bottom as well. I also have a few lps and ricordia placed through out. I have a fiji yellow leather placed high and a umbrella placed midway. Everything has...

You definately need more of a cleaner crew. Sally light foots are great algae eaters but from time to time they will go after a fish and i have seen them tear an anemone to eat the insides. Ease up un the trace elements your bio load is not that large so i doubt the system is using it all and an...

id please- are my corals sickly??

I have had success using a product called Phosbuster which is a liquid and another called Phosban which gets placed in a bag and must have water flow through it. Test and make sure your replacement and top off water are not a source of phosphate as well. Good Luck!

id please- are my corals sickly??

Like some have said it looks like you have a problem with phosphates due to all the algae. The coral next to the zoos is a type of goniopora a bit hardier than the standard green rent a coral. The corals will suffer greatly due to phosphates. I would recommend removing the dragon...

Best Large Angel For My Tank?

What price range are you looking to be in? I go against everything that is taught and have many large angels together along with dwarfs in a 180. The Blueface is a nice fish a bit on the shy side. The Majestic is also a bit shy. As everyone has said a Emperor is a good choice. My Goldflake...
