    Foxface tail fin getting smaller

Hi,I have a medium (4-5") Foxface who has been in my tank approx 6 months. He is very active, eats, and gets along with everyone well. However, his tail fin seems to be getting nipped or is rotting away (not sure). I never see anyone nip at him, so I just want to see what it could be. Tank...

    lettuce nudibranch

I've been in the same boat for ~ 6 months. Things I have tried (unsuccessfully): new vho bulbs (no luck) foxface (must be a carnivore) cut back on feeding (trigger ate my pair of banded coral shrimp) added a sea hare/bali sea monster (didn't touch it) 8 emeralds (in 60 gallon tank) rowaphos (4x...

    ID Please - strange mushroom

Thanks for the help. He is only partially "open" in the picture, and is typically flat across. If I put my hands in the water close to it it will close up and looks more like a tulip before opening. There are some "mini" versions of this on the rock under the umbrella- maybe 4-5mm in diameter...

    ID Please - strange mushroom

Hi, Any idea what this is? I picked it up around 3-4 months ago for under ten dollars and it has more than doubled in size and has little spawns under it on the rock that are new. The diameter is roughly 3 inches when open. Thanks!

    VHO Lights and Algae

Any other thoughts on this? I added two Korelia #3 PH's and the water is really moving around nicely now. I am also working on maintaining my pH at 8.3 and raising my alkalinity, per LFS recommendations. Ready to replace my actinic bulbs, but just wanted a bit more feedback first if...

    koralia powerheads in a 40g

I have a 60 and just put in two #3 Koralia's. Very happy with them, and they seem to be perfect for the size tank. I would presume two #2's would be good.

    Anyone recognize this algae?

I have a foxface and he will not touch bryopsis - been in there for 3 months together and not yet seen him eat a strand.

Had several near misses with Humu humu Triggers snorkeling in the pacific recently - they were around 10-12" long and would charge you, bearing their teeth.

    VHO Lights and Algae

Bulbs are 4 months old (blue) and 12 months old (actinic white - ready to be replaced). I buy my RO water from a LFS, but trust they have good filters. The saltwater I buy from them is local ocean water (S. FL). Water flow is the return pump - Quiet One 4000 HH = 980GPH, but has 5 foot head so...

    VHO Lights and Algae

I have a 60 gallon tank with 4 110 watt VHO lights on it. Tank is 1.5 years old, and I am battling green hair algae with a vengence. Lights: 2 110W 50/50 actinic white, 2 110W Actinic blue URI Am I running too much actinic lighting? Too little? Lights are on 8 hours a day. I am wondering if...

    Foxface losing "yellow" color

Thanks. He is out eating, swimming, andacting normal except for the coloring. He does look a bit skinny, but not too terribly bad. I will get some algae sheets this weekend for him. And the trigger is roughly half the size of the fox.

    Foxface losing "yellow" color

Hi, I have had a medium sized foxface for about a month now. He eats pellets and nips algae in my tank, but it seems like some f his body has lost it's bright yellow color and is more or a white. He is in a 60 gallon, with a clown, bar goby, two yellow chromis, black trigger, and some corals...

In sump skimmer selection - 60 gallon fish/reef

Thanks- it was the pump. I moved the pump around and it is much better now. I will look into the mesh mod- I know it is only a few dollars.

In sump skimmer selection - 60 gallon fish/reef

Got my "blem" Euro Reef RS80 and it is up and running well. Pulling some nasty junk- only complaint is it does make a bit of noise from the pump, but not too bad. One of the suction cup holders was broken on the pump (sedra), but not an issue to me.

Awesome- thanks for the responses everyone. I will give this guy a shot within the next week or so - LFS has them for around 35.00 and they are maybe 3-5 inches long.
