From the reading I have done on here, Mexican Dragon Morays aka Jeweled Moray grow to about 2' in captivity and are one of the more aggressive species.

I have read a few articles/posts that state that morays do not like intense lighting. I currently have a 4' 50/50 power compact(old reef). My goldentail has been in my tank now for almost a week and he has yet to venture out into the light(stays in the shadows). Should I downgrade?

Would a lion be able to eat a snail/hermit? I didnt think they could becuase of the shell. Any other suggestions?

What do you think would be a good companion for a goldentail moray in a 50 gal? Im gonna be getting a snail/hermit clean up crew soon, so no crustacean eaters. I also have some polyp corals. Im thinking maybe a lion or a tang(algae grazer) as my next addition. :notsure:

Yes unfortunately that is hair algae. I didnt want to shell out the 200 bucks for a RO/DI unit so i use distilled water. I tested the water the day before my eel arrived and the water conditions were perfect. Any suggestions on how to get it under control? He is about 12" maybe 14"
