help with upgrading 12g to 20g

I have an eclipse 12 gallon and I want to upgrade to a 20 or maybe 29 gallon. The 12 is well established with live sand and live rock, lots of corals and 2 fish. How do I move everything into the 20?? Does the new tank have to cycle?

    do DE halides burn corals?

ok, i have the tempered glass coming late this week. can i use the plexiglass to start adjusting my tank to the halides? I have a well-cooled canopy i built myslef so im not worried so much about the heat as the corals being "burned" from the de halides. does plexi block the uv rays?

    do DE halides burn corals?

i have heard that the double ended halides emit harmful uv rays that can burn corals and inverts and that they need a glass shield. i recently purchased a 70w DE halide and the lfs guy said to use plexiglass to block out the harmful uv rays. my questions: do de halides burn and if so will...

black and white percs as hardy as orange?

viper- I have not jumped into this hobby. The disease might have been ich (cryptocarion) but no other fish was infected which is not characteristic of ich. The clownfish that did die showed symptoms of white spots for only a day and after three days he died. Ich usually has a longer life...

    euphyllia colonies? do they sting..

I have seen in various books and some other tanks different species and pieces of euphyllia corals. There have been frogspawn right next to hammer coral and I was wondering if they sting eachother or if it would eventually cause death. Anybody know? When the tenticles mix it creates a...

    Anemone

oh yeah, the clowns. they might not move into a torch either being tank raised. even wild caught clowns wont always host in aquaria. its just that euphyllia corals (frogspawn, hammer, torch) are easier and less sensitive, generally, than anemones. just cross your fingers!

    Anemone

vince- for a 10 gallon, if you keep the two clowns you dont want too much rock, they have to have swimming area. it is hard to say in pounds becasue some rock is really dense. a lot of times 1 or 2 pounds of rock per gallon can make a good size stable reef with plenty of holes and such. imo it...

Is 55w of pc lighting enough for a...

condys tend to move around to find a place they like, and at the top you might be ok.. it also depends on the color of the condy- tan or brownish colored condys should have lower light than a bright white or colored one. but i do agree with everybody else here, youll probably be happier with...

    Anemone

if youre getting a new tank in a month, i think it would be best to wait on the anemone. the bubble tips are relatively hardy but still, anemones like a fairly established tank with steady parameters. the clowns would be fine without an anemone for a while and will maybe host in your torch or...
