You might want to add a little Reef fusion #1 and #2 to help the hitch hikers make it. Look on Mediabaskets.com to see if they have the baskets for your tank. They are awesome! I have a 29GAL biocube and got a fish saver wall(prevents fish suicide) and the media basket for my tank. Good Luck!

Gotta be a bit leery of a chick with the screen name psycho. Welcome to SWF I think.
You should get some new test reagents, after 4 years I would not trust the results. Something I don't know about is the life expectancy of the salt mix either. I would think it would still be good but let's see what others say.Tank looks good so far.

hey i took a look at thsoe filterbaskets as i didnt know what they were, I already have mine set up with the chemi pure and seachem phosguard in one chamber and I have the chateo growing in the next with a small light down in the cheato area, I didnt use floss as im kinda lazy and that makes nitrates so i opted out of the floss. as far the fish saver wall, i'll take a look at those and see how they work! :) Im also feeding dt's (small amounts) lol as that goes a looonnngg way! seems to be working very well as my leather has almost doubled in size. now what does the fusion 1 and 2 do?

You won't need the Fusion for a tank that small and not keeping high demand coral like SPS and Clams. Fusion is a calcium and carbonate dosing product. This can be accomplished easily in 12 gallons with a good water change schedule. Don't waste your money on the Fusion.
FYI filter floss does not make nitrates. The nitrogen cycle does. Filter floss traps suspended particles from the water and if left in the tank and not changed regularly will become an area where;
1. Said particles will be trapped and will over time start to degrade into ammonia.
2. Nitrifying bacteria will start to populate the floss as it is a source of food.
3. The bacteria will do their job in breaking down the ammonia into nitrites and the nitrites into nitrates. As their are no anaerobic (thrive in areas of little to no oxygen) bacteria to finish breaking down the nitrates into nitrogen gas you get an increase in nitrates in the tank.
So the floss really needs just to be changed 2-3 times per week to avoid this. And the floss, as it removes the suspended particles, helps to avoid any water clarity problems caused by suspended particles and to remove the source of some of the larger proteins that cause nitrates problems with nitrates.
As you can see I believe floss to one of the better - inexpensive things an aquarist can use to help to maintain water quality.

yes the wire mesh is to acclimate the corals to the major light difference going from pc to hqi. I will leave it on for few weeks until they get acclimated and then take it off. hope eveyone had a great day! Merry Christmas everyone
