It sounds like a nice time, until I look around and see my wife, and 11 year old daughter getting into the "you don't love me" fights, Then throw in her older sister (with developmental problems) and now you have a powder keg. All i can say is thank god for Kayak Fishing here in the Tampa area

I am a stay at home dad of a 13 year old daughter and a 15 year old son with Autism, I can So relate to what you wrote.

yeah...I also have a 13 yr old girl - who acts (but at least not ALL of the time) like the world revolves around her. When the two of us are arguing and my husband hears the yelling, he comes to find out what is going on - then starts yelling at both of us. Seems like he hasn't learned that lesson yet to JUST STAY OUT OF IT. It would make things much easier; especially since we always work things out in the end.
My daughter has even yelled at him to stay out of it and that we would work things out.
I also hear the "it's my room, why do I have to clean it" speech - and give the same response - "because YOUR room is in OUR house, and I told you to clean it." However, both of my kids (the other is a 16 yr old boy) refuse to separate cleaning their rooms from doing their laundry. Therefore about a week ago, I added a new rule that every Saturday, my daughter will clean her room & do her laundry; and my son will do the same every Sunday. Thanks to my mother-in-law, they probably both could go for a month without doing it.

Kelli you are cool, but don't you remember your parents saying "I hope you get a kid just like you"

Sometimes I have to remind myself that I'm definitely not smarter than my parents. In some aspects I am, like fish...but overall they're a lot smarter. Anyway, I don't know if it's just instinctive or what, but for some reason we reach an age where we get a false sense of intelligence and maturity
