Thanks Petey ! How is your tank doing -? On the QT I have a hang on Danner Supreme Combo Skimmer. Should I add something else -?

My tanks doing great, I think I am happy with my current stock list, they all get along great and are outgoing which is what I like. I don't like fish that hide.
I say definitely add a filter that can form bacteria to help remove ammonia and nitrites. Without one, it's very hard to maintain a QT. You can use a biowheel type filter or a plain "sponge" filter. How's the tusk doing? Did he recover?

Rock, definately run the fans all the time. Consistency of temp is more important, but I think anything over 85 is dangerous. I have pretty heavy lighting, I have 2 fans blowing on my sump 24/7, if I didn't I would be about 85 degrees, it keeps me around 82 max which I am happy with.
Agree, keeping a "proper" qt is a challenge, that's the big reason I don't QT!
Actually I will if I ever need to add another fish as my current fish are so established.
Emperor looks a little thin. Did you treat with Prazipro? I would.
Sorry, just saw the Tusk died, that was a beautiful fish.

Hey Pete ! Any new pics on your tank -? The filter in the QT is a sponge filter, it has 2 double sets of carbon/sponge on each side. I was wondering how often should I change the sponge and carbon-? Unfortunately, the Tusk died earlier this week, and I am pretty sure it was the high temps that did it. Cuz, all the reading were fine, but I had a temp of 91.Sucks man !
KJR, I'll keep the fans on 24/7, its down to 84 right now. Yea, the QT is hard to maintain, I'll just do a water change every two days. Why is it hard to maintain -? Because of no sand and rocks -? So I should treat with Prazi -? But when -? The QT process just started on 7/28.

I would get a bio wheel filter for the qt. Like stated it will help establish beneficial bacteria and will help matain water params. Is it me or does your emp look like he may be growing a Streamer? That guy is gorgeous. The queen is stunning as well. They are both in adult colors. The emp is around 6 inches? I thought you wer egetting juvis. You can try feeding pellets or mysis shrimp. Get a clam on the half shell with some garlic.
Also If the temp on the main tank is still above 80 I would turn down the other heater or turn it off. The lights may be enough during the summer time.

Hey Crypt ! How are ya-? So you say a bio-wheel filter. So should I keep the one I have now, and add another one -? If so, which brand -? Maybe get it at ***** -? Thanks man, the Emperor is awesome ! Na, no streamer..... I can't wait to put him into the DT. He does have one dot on his fin, and under his two fins, by his stomach, look a little sunken, I'm not sure. I'm feeding him and the angel, every other day. And doing water changes, every two days. The Emp is at 6. I was going to get Juvi's, but I never had luck with them. So far they are eating everything, but I am feeding very little, I don't want to mess up the water parameters. I just turned of the last heater in the DT, thanks !

I would try and fatten him up. Maybe feed twice daily and do daily water changes once the filter is in. Get him eating like a monster. Then if that doesnt get him any better in a week I would dose with prazi pro. If he eats and gains no weight its a parasite.
The top of the tail looks like the start of a streamer. The very tippy top on the edge.

These biowheel filters are great! I kept a trigger and a dogface puffer in a 30gal QT with only weekly water changes and the water condition was always perfect. No ammonia or nitrites at all. I had the same biowheel filter like in the picture running. But keep in mind, these biowheels take a long time to build up the beneficial bacteria, up to a month.

what you can do if you have any filter media from the main tank is take that and place it in the qt filter. this will speed up the process

Hey Crypt and Pete ! I picked up that Bio- Wheel filter a couple of days ago, it works like a charm. I also inserted some media from my main tank, to jump start the filter. The angels are doing well, eating and looking fine. Tomorrow, I am dosing with Prazi, and treating for a week. So, I guess I would have to remove the cartridges from the bio-wheel and from the Danner combo skimmer filter, so the Prazi-Pro would work efficiently. But I was wondering, what should I do about the skimmer/filter combo. Because it has a built in skimmer, and if I leave it running, it will remove the Prazi-Pro. Maybe I can just disconnect the skimmer part from the mechanism -? Also, I have a kids party coming up on the 29th. I was wondering if it will be ok, to add two percula clowns to the QT-? Would it mess anything up-? Thanks !

do not add any more fish to the qt. Its getting its overload right now. I would take the barrier out of the qt and allow the emp and queen to socialize. See how it goes. If they fight put back.
why are uyopu dosing? do you see synmptoms? If they are eating and not gaining weight then dose. Right now Id get them eating a ton and see how it goes. If they get fat you should be fine. If not then you may have an issue.

Ok Crypt ! I'll removed the barrier now, and see how they do. I was going to dose with Prazi, because I thought its always good to do that, for safety purposes -? Like prevention -?

Be careful with kids around a fish tank, make sure they don't throw anything in. lol I heard kids throwing some pretty weird things in tanks. Better put a leash on them.

Yea Petey, I'm keeping the tank well secured from the kids !
Crypt, I took the barrier out last night, but they went at it during feeding time, so I put it back. About the Prazi -Pro, do you guys know how long should I treat for -? Thanks

That sucks. How were they other than that? Maybe you can break them in slowly. I would allow them to hang out only when you are there then like 30 minutes before feeding time seperate them. Then let them chill out after eating then maybe allow them to hang out again. Otherwise you could be setting yourself up for issues in the main tank. If they can be cool in a 55 you will zero issuues in th ebigger tank.
Prazi pro has directions on it. If you are going to dose might as well does full term. Just make sure they are eating while on it.

Ok Crypt, I'll follow the schedule, and removed the eggcrate from time to time. So I guess I'll Prazi for 2 weeks-? I just checked on the Angels, both of them has a white spot on their fin, and I see the Queen only breathing on one side of her gill
. Could that be a sign of a parasite -? All readings are fine
Can I add Cupramine to the QT with Prazi in it -?

what are your water params? Still doing daily changes? they need to be done for a few weeks even with the filter. I would dose the prazi pro. Keep up on changes. feed them 3 times a day if possible.
