Hello all i'm new to this but i've done freshwater. I want to do a biocube like your but cost is my only limiting factor and i chose 29g for portability when we move in the summer where it will be my quarantine tank when i get a bigger tank. So my question is how much does a nice setup like that cost? And, can anyone help me find info on seahorses? My fiance loves them and in the future I would like to surprise her with one as soon as i know what i'm doing.
Thanks! I got mine as a Christmas gift, but after the tank, I've spent about $200-300 on LR, LS, pumps. The most expensive was the sunpod

If you want to do a seahorse tank ask them over there, that's your best bet...

What do you guys think about adding a canister filter to my biocube? Yes, no, maybe? I do do get it it'll be used for a bigger tank later on, but for now, for a biocube what do you guys think?

Even if you had a big tank I wouldn't use a canister filter. It would be better to run a larger refugium if you can. A 10 gallon plumbed into the system with a 5" sandbed and a lot of chaeto would be extremely beneficial.

i dont think you will need it, you should be fine without it... You get your fuge yet?
Not yet, I was going to buy this awesome set-up with a skimmer and all, but the seller backed out, laaame. So now I need to order another fuge from my LSF and now comes end of the month, time to pay bills

Ok, so new update not so much with my Nano, but with a brand new 55g tank and 2-24" lights for $15!!!

Some guy at the LSF said that he bought it but was just taking space in his apartment since he bought a 120g the week after and since I kinda started making friends around my LFS' and we get along and he kinda helps me a bit with marine fish when I see him, he said he would give it to me if I bought him a little frogspawn that was there and it was only $15, soo yeah w000t!

Now, can anyone point me in a good direction onto where to start with this one?

Filtration: HOB Filter like an AquaClear 70 or a Refugium: CPR Aquatics AquaFuge 2 Large Hang-on Back Refugium w/ Pump & Protein Skimmer or a 10 gallon plumbed refugium...
Just need a stealth heater, 2 K1 powerheads, sand and rock...skimmer optional(some fuges come with a skimmer).
What kind of lighting?

it's just 2 - 15w fluorescent lights, cheap ones, but I do plan on upgrading. One thing I'm thinking of if having my current sunpod hang from atop of the 55g and return my nano to the stock lights. Does that sound good or bad?
Would a Medium AquaFuge2 work as a filter? Wouldn't I need to add like any other type of filtration media? I know that the fuge I'll be adding LS and cheato and some plants.
Would a aquaclear 70 or a fuge be better than a canister filter?
Thanks!

From what i read about canister filters they can clog up quick...so wkly cleaning is required...
If you can fit both the aquaclear and the aquafuge 2 on the back it would be nice (I think you can?) The aquaclear has carbon which is very good to run in any tank and a sponge or filter floss too.
I can't answer the lighting question maybe somebody else can?

Good to know about the canister filters

I can fit both of them in the back no problem. Would I still be able to use the purigen and chemi-pure in the aquaclear?
