55g NOOB Creation

Thanks everyone!!!
It is sturdy, well for the most part. the last few pieces near the top are a little loose but the big stuff and the base is wedged in there pretty good.
Meowzer.. I read another thread where you said to interlock the pieces until they almost click into place. that is what I tried to do.
As to your question about holes for the fishes to swim in and out of... yes there are, probably ranging from 2" in diameter to 6'', do you think this is sufficient?
thanks again,
~grace

looks great, i like the aquascaping!!! but again make sure the holes are big enough, my previous fish (and the six-line i have now) love all of the caves!!! looks great though cant wait too see whats next!

takes time bro, that was the biggest mistake i made in the beginning, you cant jump into this hobby and expect an amazing tank within the first year. It sucks but you have to have patience. Hahaha and i know you, just have to take your time and before you know it, you tank will look amazing!!!

I know.. it took everything in me not to buy fish yesterday. Dillon told me to hold of until I get my nitrates back down. They were as bad as the time we tested nicks water, well close. Im going to florida this weekend and sometime next week or the week after Ill go down there and pick some up...

So yesterday I got my water levels checked and my Nitrates were 40-50 PPM.
It's been about 22 hours since my water change and I just wanted to see what it was...
Nitrate- 20
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
PH- 8.4
Temp- 79.4

so yesterday morning I checked my levels and they were pretty darn good.
Nitrate- 0
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
PH- 8.3
Spec Grav- 1.022
Temp- 79.6
I went and bought a cleaner shrimp, ten blue leg hermits and a few snails.
Everyone has told me that cleaner shrimp are very lively and some of the best things in their tank. Mine has been hiding and quite shy... is this normal too?
Thanks in advance!

My water parameters have been close to perfect for about two weeks. I did a 15% WC yesterday and am planning on putting some fish in friday.

Depending on what my LFS has. My wife wants a pair of clowns and maybe a RBTA, maybe a few chromis to give my tank some life, since it has none....
what would you choose?

Definitely stay away from the anemone until your tank is at least 6 months old...What type of lighting do you have?
I would probably get a few chromis first too...see how they do, and then go from there

how many chromis?
I was thinking that about the anemone, if I found one I would put it on hold.
I actually just got a new light, its a Coral Life 48" 4X65w PC w/ built in LED's. I dont konw the exact name of it, I got it from my brother. He mights chime in here if he knows.

What else do you want to put in your tank? Think about that first, and then decide about the chromis....I am sure you don;t want to fill your tank with them :(
I would get at least 3, no more than 5 in your tank
Not sure about your lights, some people do it, but I was never able to keep an anemone alive with pc's

i was thinking three...
I do not want that many fish, a few chromis, two clowns, maybe a coral beauty, and eventually a spotted mandarin goby (my favorite fish!), and lots of inverts...
what do you think about that list?

Sounds ok....and I know from previous posts that you already know about the mandarin and it's very large pod diet...right

I do.. I am planning on waiting till at least the end of summer before I think about adding one. Speaking of pods, should I start seeding now, or is it too premature?
