I do.. I am planning on waiting till at least the end of summer before I think about adding one. Speaking of pods, should I start seeding now, or is it too premature?
AHHH...I'd wait.....seems to me you should be getting some on your own soon

i say....tear down the tank, convince cara to lets US to put up a 180g and we wont have any issues with what we can out in there!!!!
id say lets do it at my apt, but not enough room in a college apt.....any who the chromis are cool but id look at a few anthias even tho they eat a ton, better looking then the chromis and cara will like all the pinks, oranges, and yellow...blah blah

lol My cleaner shrimp is like having a fifth fish. He is ALWAYS out and free swims almost as much as the actual fish.
I don't remember if anyone mentioned this or not, but you shouldn't do both a sixline and a mandarin. Sixlines eat pods and will out-compete the little mandarin for it's food. They're also pretty agressive, but I like them too much to care (I have a damsel too lol).
I'm not going to give you the mandarin lecture mainly because I'm putting one in my 29 gallon. Rather than just waiting for a steady population of pods (which wont be enough to feed one in my little tank anyways), I'm starting to get into culturing phytoplankton and copepods to feed it. I'm using a five gallon tank for the phyto (pods eat it) and a couple two liter bottles for pods. I don't have any books on it, but there are a lot out there I'm told. I'm somewhat just doing a trial and error thing, since none of my LFSs have the books.
I also saw that you were thinking about a nem? Stick with the bubble tips if you get one, they're the least agressive. I've heard that keeping a Mandarin in a tank with a nem is dangerous because Mandarins move so slowly, thus becomming easy nem food. I would advise on better lights. I just ugraded from PCs to T5s today actually (love it!) and I've got my first SPS. Besides being healthier for the nem, it'll limit you less on the corals you pick.
Good luck, I'm following this. =)

Freak-
Thanks for the post.
I have actually decided against a six line. I have read too much negative on here about them. Maybe a cleaner wrasse?
I plan on waiting at least a year until I put the mandarin in. He is basically the pinnacle of my tank so I def think itll be worth the wait.
I was thinking a RBTA.. I just like how they look. I keep getting mixed messages on lights for nems. One person will say they will do fine w/PC, others say the exact opposite.
I do not want anything that will harm the mandarin tho...

i havent read all the threads so forgive me if someone has already posted this, i wa reading one at top from where you said you wanted:
2 clowns
1 sixline wrasse
1 manderin
firstly, the eel is WAY to big for the tank as you know.
they grow to 5ft long lol, need about a 7ft tank to house one of them lol
and the sixline will kill the manderin.
they both eat copepods, the sixline will eat other stuff too, but not the manderin, anyways, they both will compete for the copepods, and the manderin is not a fish for fighting, it will get killed by the sixline.
IMO out of the two id get the manderin, but firstly get a refugium, and pour a bottle of copepods into it, lave it for 2 months at least, then add the manerin so it can have food.
will need to top up the copepods once a month or so.
i think this will be a nice stocklist for you:
2x clowns (percs or ocellaris or B/W)
1x flame angel (beautiful brightly coloured fish!)
1x chalk goby
3x lyletail anthias
1x green manderin (after a year like you said)
that would be a nice, outgoing, and colourful stocklist.
also with say 2 cleaner shrimp, and a few snails as a CUC.
i recommend against a cleaner wrasse strongly.
with bigger fish their fine but with smaller fish such as ones in a 55g they will annoy the fish and may even end up eating away the fishes flesh instead of cleaning it.
a cleaner shrimp will clean them instead of kill them.
a cleaner wrasse with that eel would work, but i dont think it would with smaller fish.

sooo... Meowzer, don't be mad at me, but I bought a pair of clowns. I had my wife with me and she was alllllll about this pair. They were relatively cheap so I just wanted her to be happy. (even though I had thoughts of Meowzer yelling at me,,, hahahah
)
Here a a few pics of the tank and the new fish.. they move around constantly so I couldnt get a good picture....

NO!!! Im darn retarded... I drove all the way to savannah, over an hour drive, and forgot. I guess I was just happy to be bringing home fish. I think I am going back next week for some...

so, an update on my tank. It has been a while since I posted due to my crazy three jobs. (I have to able to afford this crazy hobby.)
The only additions are some mushrooms and some Zoas. (My first corals!!!
)
My clowns are growing quickly and one is really turning dark, which i like a lot. I want to add a coral beauty, fire shrimp and emerald crab. I think I am going to get some Xenia and GSP this week.
Let me know what yall think!

It is... but I have such a long way to go. My wife is already on me about spending to much... I am just going to have to take my time and do it piece by piece....
Thanks tho!!!
