Pulsing Xenia update! These are some TUFF Frigg'n Corals!!!!

I scraped the xenia you saw in my tank before off the rocks and sold them along with my elegance coral. I just used a sharp kitchen knife and wasn't very careful. Part of the main colony had attached to the rock next to it so I just ripped it. Well, as you can see in the pictures (IF you can see it) the little bit of tissue that was left on the rocks is starting to regrow!!
And the one that I ripped off the rest of the colony is apparently just fine! What tha heck!!! (want's to use stronger language but cant) So, it appears that I will have another bunch of xenia in a matter of just a month or two. This stuff is growing back just a week after being scraped and ripped.
The last picture is of the colony before I took it all out. The first is of the peice that was ripped from the main colony and the two in the middle are of two sepparate spots where there is tissue on the rocks that are regrowing.
enjoy! and Merry Christmas!!! Happy holidays!

im so sorry about the tubbs
i lost some as well
oh btw add me as a friend! and join the group!
what do ya mean? I'll look for that option.. thanks for the compliments!! It's ok about the tubbs... they were really pretty but I guess it just wasn't ment to be. I tried glue and epoxy and no matter what I did that crab would just crawl up on it and pull it off the rock and eat some of the zoas. I suspect that most of them succumbed to being smooshed though. The red ones are spreading though. It wont be long until they are off the plug and on the rocks!!

Looks great..I see my bubble is still doing great
Why thank you! The bubble has been through Hell and back and still looks fantastic!! i can't believe it has gotten so huge! I'll post a before and after shot, it's easy to forget where these things start out at. Luckily I save and date all my pictures so I have them later on.
Oh yeah. I keep having to move it around away from the rocks because some days it's bigger than normal and it scrapes and rubs itself on them! In these pictures it's not even as big as it has been.

New Year Pictures!
The birdsnest got knocked down into the bubble coral a few times in a week so i had to break off a few small pieces. Now it leans over but it has healed up nicely and growing well still.
Of course the bubble coral is doing same as always dispite the impalement of the birdsnest a few times! I also accedentally dropped an empty hermit crab shell into it and had a hell of a time trying to keep it from trying to eat it! lol!
The candy canes growing has slowed down because I stoped feeding it daily. Although I did get a pretty cool picture of it at night right after a feeding!
More pics to come.

The mushrooms are doing great without taking over my tank. I havn't experienced the splitting that most of you do. I have had my green ricordia move pretty far and leave bits of flesh on the rock that grows into another shroom. So, I've got 4 green ricordias now.
That's all that i have for now. I thought I took more but I must have deleted them during the "quality control" portion of downloading.
I do wan't to mention that when i broke off that elegance coral from that piece of live rock (all mentioned about a month ago here), I have seen that the tissue and skeleton are growing back. I thought that this was really odd and thought that you guys might know if this is actually possible.
Also all the xenia that I cut off the rocks are actually growing back! ugh... I guess this means that in a few months I'll be cuting them off and selling them again! Lesson for anybody who buys these though... make sure you actually want them forever because you wont be able to rid yourself of them permenantly unless you get rid of the rock they are on too!

Hey glad all is going well
As far as the Xenia....After you cut it off, try putting a small amount of epoxy over the stub
I have KENYA tree that does that, I cut 2 LARGE pieces off at the base, and they are back and growing fast too...
I have not tried the epoxy myself yet, BUT I am pretty sure that would work

Thanks guys! I'm actually already quit on the smoking thing. I'm rather proud of myself. I dont even crave them... my biggest problem is that I find myself wanting one just for the heck of it. I'm one of those people that LOVED smoking. Oh well! Now I'm finding myself rather bored with my tank. I dont have any money because I can't find a job. So, I can't even afford to replace the filters in my RODI unit. The whole thing is rather depressing. I dont however want to be that person that gets out of a hobby I love just because I can't afford to buy new things all the time. What I need is to find something really awsome to get for the tank and save up for it. Does anybody have any ideas on what I should add? It could be a fish or a coral. Remember that my tank is a 90 gal so I can't have anything huge or aggressive. Thanks for the compliments and the offers of help. So here's me asking for help! lol

thanks carlos! Me too..... I'm really bored at home every day. Unfortunately it will probably take a while longer. Chromis would be a good idea but I want something with color...... I know blue is a color but chromis are really light. Any more suggestions?

Well, it's been a while but I finnaly have something to update! I got my skimmer finnaly! I bought it from this site, but unfortunately didn't experience the good customer service that others have raved on. I was made to feel stupid because the pump to my skimmer didn't work. Then it was sent to the manufacturer to be rebuilt. I didn't find this out until about a week ago. The comunication of this particular man was awful! So, when I got it back today, it arrived rebuilt and slightly damaged. It works, but I ended up paying for shipping twice for a brand new pump but got a damaged/rebuilt one instead. I have to say that the free bag of shells I got in the orriginaly box does nothing to make me want to shop here ever again.
Well, now that I've gotten that out of my system.... here's the picture!

oh yeah. the second pic is of my red shroom that needed to be moved away from the invading green ric.

Hey there guys! I got my april pictures for ya. I'm still having issues with the slime algea but I'm doing everything i can to get it to go away. I'm about to order some of the chemiclean and do another 3 day blackout. I'm hoping that will cure it after I did a huge water change and sucked out all the I could and changed the light bulbs that I had on it. I took the power compacts away completely and am using a t-8 bulb to suppliment a little. It's ok for now but I"m going to be building a canopy and getting metal halides to go in it along with my t-5HOs that will be just actinic after the halides go on. I'm hoping to get the hood started in a few weeks. I'll post pictures of how I do it along the way. I'm wondering if you guys have any prefferences on how your hood opens and how the lights are attached. Like what is a huge pain in the butt and what has worked well for you. I'm thinking of three different styles of hood. the first has just doors that open in the front, the second has a hinge on the top and the entire front and half the top lifts open and out of the way, the third just has the front pannel lift up. If you guys have any oppinions on which design would be the best for ease of use and the least amount of annoying then please let me know. I'm not sure about the halides like where I"m going to get them just yet or if it will even be a brand you guys would recognize. I may be getting them from my boyfriend's supply house (he's an electrician) where he can get the stuff, hopefully, cheaper than at the stores. Well, here are a few pics to sustain you until the exciting build can begin! I"m so glad to be back! I start my new job tomorow so I plan to be more involved in my tank and the boards again! Yippy~!
