I have always been in favor of civil unions but was a little iffy on gay marriage. One of those things where I had mixed emotions but really wasn't strong one way or another. After seeing that turdillious flakejob who asked the question attack her and the response from a couple of gay organization I will now not just vote against gay marriage, I will vote against civil unions too.
I am sick and tired of seeing people attacked for having an opinion. Those of us who opposed Obama were called racists even when we could site numerous specific reasons having nothing to do with race for our opposition. In fact I think a whole lot more racists voted for Obama than against.
I really hope some gay organizations denounce this idiot. My new found stand against civil unions could easily be swayed back. Still not sure on marriage.

BTW
Homosexuality is a mental diease. We should treat it as such. We treat people who are mean as hell for mental disorders. They get prozac. We need to find a cure for homosexuality....
Maybe she should have said that.

LMAO!

So being openly gay or a superflamer (why not just say fag?)
I could have! I have gay friends and they dislike super flamers just as much as anyone else and yes they will call them superfags and not get their panties in a bunch.

She could easily have answered the question without stating whether or not she personally believed in gay marriage. Thats what she shouldve done. No lies or compromised morals and would be playing to the judges. Maybe I'm in a pageant and I think gay marriage is ok because Aliens came to earth and told me so. Sure if I say that I'm stating the truth but I doubt anyone would be giving me brownie points for being honest. A pageant is all about looks and presentation and if you give an answer that is divisive then you are going to be knocked for it. Oh and i also think beauty pageants are incredibly gay and probably hold more interest to a gay man then a straight one these days anyway.

It's amazing to me how many people in this country are all for freedom of speech... as long as they agree with who is speaking.
On a larger topic, to me, the idea of "beauty pageant" means more than just whether or not you are..."difficult to look at." I've always kind of felt like the questions are to establish the presence or lack of inner beauty.
So, an individual that feels a certain way about the topic of gay marriage may be perceived as having or not having inner beauty depending on the moral fiber of the observer.
Should she have been penalized? Yes and no. Here's a differnet question... HOW COULD she have directly answered that question and not been harmed by it? It was a BS question in the first place because emotions run hot on both sides of the issues. If you are judging the contestants based on the answer they give, she was done the moment the question was asked.
If you judged the contestant based on their fortitude of thought and the strength of their convictions, she deserved to win.
I will point out that in no place in this post have I taken a stance myself on the subject, but I will say that I really admire this young lady for speaking in what she believed. That takes some serious huevos.

WHat it all comes down to is that pathetic waste of sperm who asked the question shouldn't have been allowed to turn the pageant into his own personal propaganda tool. They should should not ask questions on political issues to avoid this kind of crap

Sorry but this reply is exactly the thing that is wrong with this country. We are so afraid of saying something that might offend someone else that our own morals, convictions, personal beliefs are all set aside and ignored. Your reply is exactly what she shouldn't have done. So many are fakes and frauds that it is hard to distinguish what our own feelings actually are. We tolerate things because we are afraid we might be offensive to some person. While there are things that should not be tolerated, so shouldn't this kind of ideology. We as a general public should welcome and reward others for saying what they belief is right or wrong. Regardless of how it may make us feel. My wife's cousin is gay, or bi, or something. He;s a real nice guy. We get along just fine. The only thing is the guy has a mental problem. We as a society should recognize this and learn to treat it. Why don't we?

Wow!
Where to begin on this one???
So being openly gay or a superflamer (why not just say fag?) should automatically disqualify one from making such important decisions as judging women in beauty pageants? 'Cuz really - the world turns on that...
In addition, her answer was ludicrous. She appreciates living in a land where there's a choice? Where would that be? It's certainly not California.
I will give you that the question was really, really
difficult though. She should be cut some slack on that account. A for effort.

where do you get "certainly not California"? the choice was put on a ballot and the voters spoke. that's what I call choice.
and if you all think her answer was bad, I advise to listen to the q/a of the girl who won. the question was something like, "how should tax payer money be spent.". and her answer went something like, "I think it should be spent on welfare and stuff". what is "and stuff"? that's an award winning answer?

This is funny, because I usually offend someone at some point in everyday. I was born without a filter on my mouth, and I like it that way. People do not like the truth when it involves themselves.

Homosexuality is NOT a mental illness, and there is no such thing as a mental disease-FYI
I am in the mental health field so please get your facts straight before you open that redneck mouth of yours.

Yes, but only if she didn't win does she have "serious huevos". If there was no consequence to her stance, then there is no evidence of fortitude, and she is just another empty skin. She said what she meant in response to a stupid question, and she should expect to have to live with the consequences.

Can you explain the difference between homosexuality and pedophilia then? They both are "conditions," right? Why is one okay, but the others not?
