This is because one of the LFS geeks told me "sometimes they don't change in captivity"...
I've never had one before...and I've seen ones much smaller than mine already with adult colors. Either way, he's cool. If he changes though, I'll try and get pics.

so with the larger angels, the ones like the blue face, that may be considered partially reef safe. which corals are they more likely to eat? i know most leathers are at risk, and some stonies, but what are some examples of the stonies they might lean towards munching on? and has anyone had any experience keeping them with the riskier corals, with a better diet , etc.. ?

I wouldn't consider a Blue Face reef safe. He ate all my zoo's (bad) and has decimated my aptasia (good!). I have seen, however, a beautiful reef tank (on another site which I've learned cannot be mentioned here) which contained a Majestic, which is even more beautiful than a Blue Face.

hmm strange he ate your zoo's, from what i have researched the only things that arent safe from some the BF are most leathers and some meaty stonies...

Well, like I've always said, you can't really assume all fish of any species have the same disposition. I've had coral beauties in with flame angels, and I've seen other tanks with both, yet the coral beauty I have in this tank terrorized a flame and killed it in two days.

of course. im just saying that from all that i have heard and read that if a blueface were to start eating corals, then those corals would often be some mix of leathers and or meaty stonies. so this is surprising because its the first i have heard of them eating anything outside of that... but like you say nothing can be taken for granted or as a given, and there are no definites in this hobby.
