Yeah you can see a lot of scripted stuff going on this season. Not terribly crazy about it either, although I do get the occasional chuckle out of the sheer ridiculousness of their attempt at humor or drama. I do like seeing more of the build aspects as well. Seen a few new insights so far that they didn't show last season. I bet that chick got a bonus from the show for jumping in the shark tank. I mean come on, they really couldn't have set that piece in the tank with a couple of grab stix? Pfft!

The Spade Tank was cool.

Hey there is a new fish tank show starting May 12 on Nat Geo Wild called Fish Tank Kings.
Hopefully it's better than Tanked. I do watch it but I always get frustrated half way thru, I hate the fake coral set up..Show me the live stuff. If soap operas can take two months to get thru one scenario I can wait a week to see a build. lol

That Fish Tank Kings looks promising. Looks like they went the complete opposite and are breaking down the actual science behind their builds. I'm looking forward to this one. Teasers say they'll visit and go behind the scenes at public aquariums and tour some coral farms through the season. DVR's set for May 12.

So what did we think about last night's episode?
I thought the manicure salon tank was cool and practical.
The bus tank was a rediculous idea, especially for the owner/engineer of the baseball stadium. A big tank for display in an area for everyone to see would have been much more practical and effective for fans.
They had to place blue colored gravel substrate for this tank (super ugly). I was just stupid. The blue linkia (aka blue starfish) probably died instantly when placed in the tank. A green carpet anemone was placed in the tank too. Hmmmm these guys need sufficient lighting. I just thought the bus tank was a total bust and an awful idea. It was made for kids to see a seemingly cool fish tank for one day and then stuff begins to decay and break down in the water column which inevitably becomes a cesspool.

I taped the program and haven't watched it yet....I thought those guys also kept the tank up for their customers, which would mean fish replacement if they kill them off....blue gravel ...it sure doesn't sound too good, but I will comment after I get a chance to watch it.

Yeah. Same thing at my lfs...they say get all these fish and when they grow, trade them in here. I don't understand it either.
That's an easy one. You pay XX amount for a baby and spend time and money to grow it up to an adult (or sub adult)... then when you bring it back you're lucky if you get what you paid for it and they resell it for 2-3 times the amount of a baby because it's now much larger.
It's a win win for the fish store and a loss for the original consumer. I agree with you... don't buy anything that cant live out it's life in your tank. You're just waisting your money otherwise.

I agree with you. The bus was dumb. Poor fish, what if someone runs a red light, Geeze. The salon was OK, glad to see it finally did look like a bottle of nail polish instead of a house. I just caught the episode of the Spade tank. Now that is the best one the have done so far IMO. Gotta say the furniture store wasn't bad either.

I was a big fan of the Spade tank, and I hated the bus tank. It's difficult for the hobbyists to seperate themselves from the reality TV aspect of the show to what we see going on. We care about the "boring" stuff that the general viewing public doesn't want to see. People want to see pranks, fights, laughing, and joking..It's sad because it's at the expense of some beautiful fish that we all care about.
