new round starts tomorrow. The reefers from the "other board" have an alliance of probably 50 members this time. For those who haven't played before...it's a real time mass player game based in space. You don't have to play constantly, but checking a few times a day helps, and making friends around you via PM helps...for some reason I have played more with germans than Americans,:eek:
Give it a try......it lasts about two months, and starts slow, but gains pace by day three...

I'm also the same - elfdoctors.
Should you sign up right away or should you wait some time? I'll be playing my first full round as I got started very late in the last game. I don't want to start with a bunch of hard core players. I probably wouldn't last long.

Funny thing, I logged on yesterday during the afternoon and it allowed me to build facilities and destroyers. I looked at my system and there were 4 other people with two starbases like myself. So others were logging on as well. However, this morning I logged onto it and got a countdown message, so I guess they saw people were already trying to build and denied access. I wonder if I will be starting from scratch or if I will retain what I have built. ??? :notsure: ???

Sign up now...don't waste any time. Might want to sign up as a newbie, like I did. This is my first go around as well.

Crud! I had to start over :( ...and they started me off with 0 ProductionPoints? Is that correct? When I logged on yesterday, it started me off with 260 Production Points. Can anyone that has played this let me know if starting off with 0 is correct.

They started me out with 0 points also! This makes the beginning a lot slower!

I started with 0 also, I believe the later you join the more pp you start with. As to race I took -3 speed - 3 defense +3 production +3 culture.

The first player starts with 0 PPs, and after that every hour you get 1 points or something like that. If you got 0 points, then you got in real close to the start, and that's scary for a new player! You'll be in the center of the universe with the most experienced players.
Always start by buying a factory as soon as possible, and then another factory or farm...factories and farms get the PP production going faster. Don't work on anything until both are atleast 6 IMO. If you don't get the population up by buying farms, and don't buy factories.....you'll be stuck at 1 PP per hour......:eek: The first three days are slow as people get things growing, after that it picks up. These first few days are very important though.

Well, I sort of got to take Astrowars for a little test drive a few days ago and got use to the set up. I think it was a mistake on their part. Anyhow, I have a better understanding of it because of it. I got my PPs up to +3, Research Lab up to + 1, and almost a + 1 on Hydroponics. Only reason I went after research labs is because I was reading the if you increase that, all your sciences increase per hour including Economics. Get that rate of economics increasing, so does PPs. So there are many ways in increasing PPs.
Anyhow, we will see how things play out :)

The only science that goes up is the one you have chosen to work on.....economy should be last because all it effects is the costs of ships. Work on population first, and factories. Every population increase gives you plus one PP per hour, plus one science per hour, and a point in the score. I would go with social science right now. By the time the games over, we'll be getting over 500 PPs per hours give or take, and working on factories and populations is why. THEN you have PPs to buy the other stuff like labs and cybernets. I would atleast get both factory and farms to 6 before I did much of anything else. Just my thoughts.

I'm at 33/-14.
Took me a while to figure things out. So far I've got pp to +4. Farms and factorys are both at 2 so far.
The thing that I can't understand is when it 1st started there where 4 players showing in the map, and now there is only 2.

I have a ranking of 157 hope that's good because the other two people in my system have a rating of 785 and 1620. Start with Social.
