Azfishgal New Tank Diary!

Thanks a lot of those pics! I think you have convinced me to get the figi rock from this site. Does 150lbs of figi and 50lbs of base rock sound good? Make sure you post a lot of pics once those clowns go in.
They are gonna seem so tiny.

Well, I have 160 lbs total, in my 125 gallon tank. I might add more in the future, but I'm going to spend the money on fish for now, and I want them to have a lot of swimming room. I know some people like to fill the tank to the top with rock, but I'm not one of them. I might go one more layer of rock, but that will be all. Doesn't mean you can't fill your tank to the top though.
The "rule" that I've been told is 1-2lbs per gallon, so I figure I'm good.
You are sooo right, those clowns are going to by very tiny.
I will definitley be posting pics when it happens.

The FIRST fish have been added, FINALLY!!!!!
The clowns are doing great, though staying in the one corner, even though they have a 6' tank to swim in.
They have only been in though for 45 minutes so we'll give them some time (but I know clowns are not big swimmers, so I'll just have to wait for my tangs). The cleaner shrimp were like
FISH TO CLEAN!!!! One immediatley tried to clean a clown, but the clown was like NO WAY! The shrimp soon backed off and are giving the new additions some space. But as you can see, they are just waiting and hoping one comes over for a cleaning.
I'll have better pics later, as my lights are not on yet.

I took this next picture yesterday. It's one of my feather dusters, looking like he's developed another crown. I remember someone else having one but why do they do this? Is it good or bad? I think it looks cool. I'm just happy this one is coming out more, because for a long time he was strictly nocturnal.

The next fish I plan to get are 3 Jawfish, which I'm hoping my lfs will have them in today or tomorrow (already put my request in). Below is the rest of my fish list and the order I plan to put them in. Please let me know if you see any issues with this list and/or order.
3 Jawfish (maybe 2, maybe 1, still researching)
2 Bangaii Cardinal
1 Orange Spotted Blenny
1 Royal Gramma
3 Lyretail Anthias (1 male, 2 females)
1 Blue Hippo Tang
1 Sailfin Tang
1 Yellow Tang
I will more than likely take a break from adding fish at some point and add some coral, QT for three weeks for each new addition (coral and fish).
I'M SO EXCITED!!!! I HAVE FISH IN MY TANK!!!!
:cheer:

I'm pretty sure my clowns are tank raised so they are probably thinking, "what is that thing?" I have two cleaner shrimp, was thinking of three, but we'll keep it like this and see what happens.

The clowns are in! Thats so awsome! Your stocklist seems ok to me except for the jawfish. I have read that more than 1 kept in the same tank will fight to the death. Even in the wild they build their burrows 10-20 feet apart from eachother.

80 lbs of dry sand and base rock to go into tank later today (if I get to it). I have 100 lbs of lr and 20 lbs of ls coming from SWF.

First fish are drip acclimating to QT.

Marlin and Nemo, named by my 8 year old daughter. (false percs)

Not sure if you can tell by the lights in my tank, but it is starting to clear.

where did you get the base rock, it's vuuuuuuuury nice

Ya, I've read conflicting reports on these fish, so I'm not sure. I know in my lfs they have them together. :notsure: The CMA book reads they are "fantastically interactive with each other", then a few more paragraphs later it reads, "These are the species to keep if you want to study interactive behavior within a single species of reef fishes. They can be territorial, so don't try to put more than one jawfish species
in the same system." And it reads later on "introduce them all at once if you are putting more than one in the system." So I'm taking this as if they are all three Yellow-headed Jawfish then I should be ok, right? Does anyone have more than one Yellow-headed Jawfish in a reef tank?

Lights are on so here are some more pics.

I didn't do a "full" tank shot, because I thought you wouldn't be able to see them.
Can you still make them out? Far left, look real hard. :happyfish

I will have to go to mine this week. I am starting a 55g reef this week. I hope to get about 20#'s of BR. $1.80 is a good price per # though, hard to beat.

Good idea, no need to spend the extra money. You are just going to burry the base rock in the sand anway.
