And, if it is happening, has it not happened before? Did it not happen before the industrial age? Even if one admits to the planet getting warmer, that does not necessarily equate to the cause totally resulting from human impact.
Doesn't the planet get colder and warmer? We have actually been in a planet warming phase since the last ice age. Its actually the central reason that human beings have thrived so these past 10,000 years.

I could not agree more here. It is a large cycle that we happen to be witnessing. It will happen with or without us.

I'm not saying that there is not a human contribution to the environmental problems of our world. Obviously there is. However, it is irksome the issue becomes an overwhelming political agenda and it is shoved down our throats at every opportunity. And worse, those who "don't subscribe" to the blame game, including scientists, are ostracized.
I am all for reducing CO2 emissions, hybrid cars, throwing money at new technologies, don't get me wrong.

Nice to see that my post went unnoticed by those who are certain any change is not created directly by humans. The earth goes through climate changes, but this one has been very rapid and can be directly correlated with human activity. Again, see the chart I posted before which was produced in a report by the IPCC which does not have a "political agenda."

All that is going on right now is a heat wave! We are no hotter then we were 40 years ago.... There is cycles in weather that tend to heat up and cool off.... The last time it was this cold in Canada was 1940!!!

helps to reduce urban heat island effect by allowing rainwater to be absorbed into dirt/plant material and through evaporation/transpiration creates a cooling affect......also less water to be pumped through storm sewers directly to streams/rivers as opposed to being absorbed into the ground which helps to create the above mentioned hypoxic zone because of increased runoff from impervious areas. not to mention drying up of what should be perennial streams becuse of a lack of groundwater recharge.
p.s. I don't care for al gore but i noticed his electric bill was mentioned before. What his house accomplishes is it shows how through new technologies we don't have to sacrifice lifestyle for the environment as in we don't have to becomne a socialist hippie commune living off the environment if we dont want to. We can still have houses that use obscene utility ammounts and take up large spaces but becuse of a lack of furthering development on alternative energy resources and our complacency to just use coal Alternative sources of energy are currently more expensive to install and opperate when compared to coal fired power. So it would seem that al gore is concerned enough with the idea that global climate change is being sped up by human activity and he is willing to operate at a greater cost to himself to power his exceptionally large home with alternative power sources. Obviously the majority of these sources are not cost effective for the average person, and Im not even going to go into the unecessary size of his home. but with further development of the technology alternative sources of energy can be found and used at an affordable cost to the public. ....and even have a large job market available to the populace.

just felt liek chimign in on all of this: regardless of global warming or not; or if there is warming if its natural or not; i think we can all agree humans have had a devesating impact on the planet. There should be less arguing about why and when and we should focus on what we can do to save or catalogue species before they go extinct and how to minimize our impact.
