A baking soda paste will scratch some types of acrylic.

what about the residual chemicals that leach into the acrylic? and silicone?
just be on the safe side and use vinigar plz ......
use bleach and i dont hold any responsibility for not answering why your tank crashed 6 months from now.
bang do you recal what the Baking soda dosing reduces? i cant find where i read that and its bugging me now..

Bleach dissipates over 48hrs, you learn that in chemistry class!!! Baking soda buffers the Alkaline! :happyfish

well i dont even like the thought of it so to each there own if you want you use bleach..not me....andd thanks i kinda figuered it was the alk.

I think Ill just go with a little vinegar and alot of water. Then more water. Hopefully it will be ok.
For what it's worth, I add straight vinegar to my topoff water, 2 or 3 cups at a time sometimes. Don't be afraid of using a lot of it to clean up your tank or equipment.

I'd recommend a couple powerheads, perhaps Maxi 900's, and a skimmer.
I see you have a "buffer" listed. Don't use this to artificially alter your PH as advertised. A buffer should only be used when alkalinity is low. To know if Alkalinity is low you will need to test it.
If you're going to maintain alkalinity with a buffer instead of water changes then you will also need to test and maintain Calcium to keep both levels balanced.

why a skimmer? I really don't understand why everyone is now pushing skimmer so much....
anyway, hydrometers don't always work...so have your results confirmed. My hydrometer was deadly off, caused me to lose a star. I'd get a refractormeter or at least make sure you know how much the hydrometer is off by.
also, are you going to use sand?
