Wow!!! Great info! Thanks FMarini! At the moment I'm feeding brine and now that I know that I can feed the baby brine phytoplankton, I will start. I was just feeding newly hatched baby brine not older than 24 hours. (for the yolk sac) I bought phyto feast from my local fish store, is that ok to feed it to the brine? Or do I have to cultivate my own? This stuff i keep it in the fridge as instructed by my LFS. Plase let me know. Thanks again for your help!

This is my brine shrimp hatchery!!! LOL Right on the kitchen counter! Luckly my wife likes the baby fish so she hasn't said anything YET!!!

Every day I have to put a fresh pot of coffee ( I meant Brine) so I have freshly newly hatched brine to feed these littke creatures!
THIS IS MAD WORK!...AND LOTS OF TIME CONSUMING!!!!!! But it's fun.

P.S. As you all can tell, I have a new key board! LOL

yes essentially feed the baby brine 8-24hrs in advance w/ your frozen phyto paste. the brine nauplii will consume the phyto and be enriched. Just remember to slowly dose the phyto so your water quality in the brine soda bottles does go bad too quickly.
BTW, yes it is crazy work, make sure you feed at least 3 times/day, 5 times is better, but more difficult. Try doing this w/ 6+ pairs and a full time job, like i did back in the late 90's. It gets easier w/ time. However its extremely rewarding, and I know you'll be successful as well

FMarini (Hi Dr. Frank!!) is the best. I'm so glad he pops in once in a while.
In my opinion the sooner you get baby Bangers on nutritious frozen food the better off they will be. It's more important to get food in them though so don't sacrifice a feeding just to get them interested in some dead food. Baby Brine will always be eaten but if they're not enriched with phyto they will develop nutritional problems like swim bladder or Suddent death syndrome.
I've had great success with frozen Cyclop-eeze but if they are born on the small side then they need to start with something smaller. Frozen Prawn eggs are awesome but they are getting harder and harder to find.

Hey Guy (Bang guy)--
Nice to hear from you again, 22, 000 post later i may add.
It also great to see you still helping out.
I still try my best to help out as well, but my time is being spent at a higher level. As you know we had an unsuccessful try at CITES protection this year, we submittted at CITES II recommendation which was overturned. After this the IUCN used the same data to determine the banggais are an "Endangered species",, but this has no impact on collection/protection and the biggest losers are the fish.
The banggais are still unprotected and very much overcollected. This yrs estimate is around 900,000K collected, w/ a total remaining population of 2million, with approx~32 out of 68 island sites still having banggais. This fish is in trouble.
Anyway the more hobbyists that can be successful and bred these fish, the less pressure on the captive populations.
Happy Turkeyday

Well Dr. Marini, I am so glad it's you in the position to help. It's disappointing to know that so many officials have their head up their ... where this fish in concerned.

Bang Guy, How do I even get them to eat dead food? It seems like they come, taste it and then spit it back out! Or sometimes they just ignore it! Any suggestions? Is this garlic thing any help?

It's easier if they start off with dead food. Once they get bigger youcan let them go hungry for a day and then they'll usually eat it. For now growth is more important.

So far I lost one and it was in the trascision (wrong spelling :) of coming out of the egg. The male dropped the egg and I guess it didn't hatch. But other than that, I haven't lost any more. I just counted today and I have exactly 46 babies!!!! I'm buying a comercial holding unit to hold them in the grow out period. It should be interesting. I'm conditioning the male and females (in separate tanks) to breed them again in a couple of months. I also have four more individuals in my main tank wich I know that they are fighting because parts of their tails are beat up. I'm pretty sure that I have another pair in there I'm just figuring out how I'm going to remove the pair out of the tank and make sure that I don't confuse it with another bangaii and end up removing eathier two of the same --- or the wrong mate of the pair.
I will keep you posted with more pictures and videos!
Thanks everyone!!!!
