yap, its blue though
the thinnest lowes had was 1/2", so i had no choice.
i've got pretty much everything, all i need is to finish the plumbing in my sump and fuge. im having a bit of complecations there. my sump will be in a separate cabinet on the side of MT and my fuge will be under my MT, and i dont want to drill any of the tanks, so im trying to figure out how to go around this problem. squidd is helping me a lot in this one.
i'll be posting a pic soon of the whole set up [no water in the tank yet] :jumping:

That Floor looks solid!!
As I was reading in your weight issue post about the aquarium. Some ppl said with a 60 yr old place they build them better. And also they were saying about how the weight will evenly distribute over a 48 x 18 area if this is the size of the stand. I build mine 50 x 20 because I wanted it to be alittle bigger. I also have mine in the basement on carpet but there is a cement floor under it. I would feel comfortable placing my 75 on the main floor too. I think once you find out where the joists are and place the tank snug against a wall you should be fine. I have never heard of a tank crashing thru 3 floors ending up as someone elses pet in their Apt. :happyfish
PS. Do they have an Apt on first floor you can move into?

i own the apartment...so cant move anywhere else

i figured out where the bering wall is and how the joists go, but i cant fit my tank anywhere i would feel safe with. my living room is kind thin and long. originaly i was planning to put the tank against the wall, but i found out that the joists go parallel that wall, so i cant do that. i cant put the tan perpendicular to the joists b/c there is no wall to put it to... i have windows going the hole wall length

im getting a bit frustrated with the whole placement issues. i think i'll just leave it where it is now [original place] and if it decides to fall through the floor, then bon-voyage to my tank and my neigbors.
im sure my insurance will cover the expense. [which reminds me i still need to get insurance...oh my]
i just ordered one of the last pieces of equipment, and hopefully soon will be done plumbing my 3 tanks together...lol
i can't wait anymore to see the rock and sand and water in there [no algae plzzzzzzzz

Annanymous,
No problem. You helped me in many ways on that stand building. I had no clue what I was doing. It turned out great also yours did too. I just want to thank you for your ideas.
Good luck with the Fill whenever you do it. I think it will be fine. Just think, if the tank does fall through the floor it will either kill or hurt your loud neighbors. If the tank stays on third floor it will be something to relieve tension and also be relaxing. Its a win win situation.
Good luck

I just thougt of this - Great Idea. You can set it up in my basement adjacent to my 75 gallon. Just an idea. J/K.

It gives you a reason to vacation! Fargo may not be the best place on earth to vacation. You can see Chicago from here its soooo Flat. j/k.
I hope you the best of luck with setting up the tank and hope nothing happens (with the floor). If it bows alittle - its no big deal. My house was built in 2002 and I would feel comfortable placing my 75 gallon upstairs. I think in your case since it was build 40 some years ago they did overkill on the building. The only way you will find out is if you try it.
Keep us posted.

Looks like a very healthy setup. Puts mine to shame. I have hair algae. My yellow tang hates it. I have a yellow tang, sixline wrasse and two blue-green reef chromis, oh and can't forget the choc. chip starfish who eats anything. If I end up going Reef in the 75 he will have to go
