I was going to use a pump. From what I've read flow is important. I wasn't sure if using one of the drains would be ok.
That's what my plan is. To feed the scrubber with it's own pump. I think it will be wiser in order to control the flow that way as apposed to using a drain line. If you go with the second design that Al drew up then I don't see much need to split the drain and add a second tower like Shawn mentioned. In the case of the first design where you would of had the option to isolate either chamber from the rest of the system then I understand that better. JMO

Ok. I would like to do both drains into one tower and have the first section be the skimmer section. That sounds like the best plan.

Hey Habs fan I am going to redraw your sump tonight the first section being the skimmer will be a lot shorter now I think we should go with 11 inches high and you can build a stand for your skimmer, what do you think. It is a shame you will be loosing a lot of the 90's volume - but there will be a lot or room for water with pumps off. To be honest with you I would make a high section about 6 or 8 inches long by the depth of the tank for your so called bubble tower - this will give you a bit of extra volume of water - you could even put your two heaters into there then one baffle into the skimmer section then 2or 3 baffles into the fuge (live rock) then two baffles into the return.

Hey Al I'm hoping to work on the sump tomorrow. Let me know if you can get that drawing done for me. Thanks.

Here you go HabsFan - like I said in my last thread I put a 6 inch inlet section you can put your heater and two drain line in there.
So you will need the following pieces 1/4" thick glass
Accurately measure the width of your tank, you said it was 17" - what ever the dimension is subtract 1/4" gives you 1/8" play on both sides, or if you think you can make it tighter go tighter - but remember they are 1/4 inch thick and you have to turn them in.
Anyways
11" x width - 3 req'd
13" x width - 2 req'd
19" x width - 1 required
Good luck

Thanks Al. Won't the 11" pieces need to be 10"? The float is 10". Will water falling over the 19" sump inlet wall crash down and make bubbles?

Habsfan funny you said that, I went back and added a third baffle into the return section - I started thinking about bubbles forming from water going over the baffle. The water will only fall in the return section, the float being at 10" inches will be fine. Good luck.
Here are the final drawings

Yes, cut all my pieces and siliconed in all but two of them. Have to wait until one dries before I can put the other two in.
