As for history references that you say I know nothing about:
1914 - Start of World War 1
1942 - The year the US entered WW2 after Pearl Harbor

Rude,
Where you getting 1942?
The USA declared war on Japan 12/8/1941
In fact FDR signed the delcaration at 1610 local 12/8/1941.
We declared war on Germany 12/11/41.
Hitler and Mussolini’s declaration of war against the US on 11 December 1941.
Any questions?

You guys REALLY want to nickpick on dates. Pretty pathetic. If you want to get techincal, the US declared war on December 11, 1941 - In response to Germany and Italy's declaration of war, the US reciprocates and declares war on both Germany and Italy. Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua also declare war on Germany and Italy.
HOWEVER, the first US troops weren't deployed to Britain until January, 1942. So if you detailed historians want to whine about the semantics of what, three weeks, go right ahead.
As far as WW1, I stated that's the year the war started. I didn't say that's when the US entered the war.
You people sure like to ride that train when you know you're right, but keep your mouth shut and ignore the posts that prove you wrong. Typical republican rhetoric.
