NICE, Krista!
Of course, you realize we need photodocumentation...

I know that pic is horrible, but my camera needed to be charged. I will post some pics once the fuzzy is more comfortable in the tank. I have seen him eat some mysis and live brine shrimp. I think that is a good sign.

Nice Krista - that is a real good sign, mysis and BBS - make yourself a stealth stick and get some ghosties for training. These guys are real easy to train onto frozen. Good luck. He does not look that big which is nice.

My second fuzzy was no bigger than a dollar coin - he is twice as big as that now. One of the reasons I got him because he was a baby.

He is doing great. He eats some of the frozen I put in the tank. He is very shy and needs to get more comfortable in the tank.
Great pics! Thanks for sharing!! You cleared up a question I had about my fuzzy's eyes. They have a bluish hue to them and I see yours does too. I have heard issues of fuzzy's getting cloudy and dying shortly after the onset of the symptoms.

Great news Krista, as long as he is eating he will be fine, I use to wonder about the eyes as well, they are huge on these guys, they can actually move them as well. He will become less shy as time goes on, as Greg calls them puppies, he will be begging for food in no time. As long as he has lots of hiding places they will feel more secure.

Great news, and pretty fish Krista!
The blue "eyeshine" you're seeing is the retinal tapetum lucidum, which is a membrane on the fish's retina that acts as a light amplifier so the fish can hunt in the failing light of the evening, which makes sense, given that lionfish are crepuscular hunters. In some fish, you can see this as a lightning bolt type appearance (there's a good pic in our lionfish care article).
Since lions have such large eyes, it's one of the first places ectoparasites (Crptocarion, eye flukes, etc) show up. Don't be alarmed if the fish temporarily has slightly cloudy eyes, as it's possible that the fish is ready to shed its cuticle, which covers its entire body. This cuticle can be shed periodically to rid the fish of algae, critters, and pathogens, and is one reason why lionfish are so disease resistant.
Welcome to the "lion club"!

How is your new fuzzy dwarf doing, I bought another two little guys tonight. One has only 1 eye, but I think it is a female, I felt real bad for her so I bought her. Need a few females going to try to breed these guys as well.

The fuzzy is doing great. I was doing some tank maintenance today and learned an important lesson, always know where the fuzzy is. He got me pretty good. How are your new additions doing?

You got stung, dam, I hear it hurts, remember hot hot water, as hot as you can stand. THe one eyed fuzzy died the next day, the other one is doing great, went back to the LFS and bought another small female I think. Anyways get some more pictures and is he eating still.

Bummer about the one eyed fuzzy. :(
The sting hurt kind of like a bad bee sting. Good thing to know about using very hot water in case it happens again.
Here are some pics:

I had a minor setback with the fuzzy. It stopped eating frozen food. I resorted to getting ghost shrimp (my only other option at the time was rosy red minnows). The fuzzy went right for the shrimp.

Ghost shrimp are great for training, at least he is eating those. You can gut load them with marine pellets. Do you have access to any acrylic rods. You can make a feeding stick by taping a piece of 50 pound fish line to the one end. That is where you can put food for them, silverside tails, ghost shrimp, salmon, shrimp. For now, this might sound cruel, you can stick a live ghost shrimp on the line and get him used to the feeding stick, as time goes on you can start adding bits of seafood (raw) and he will get a good feeding. Remember these guys should only be fed 3 times a week, they have a very slow metabolizm. If it is smaller you can feed every other day. STay away from the rosies they are not good long term. HTH

Thanks for the info Al! I know to not feed him the rosies. A good thing is that if I can't get him weaned back to frozen, I have very easy access to ghost shrimp. I can just pick them up from my work and get them gut loaded. He is getting more comfortable in tank. I have seen him all over the tank tonight now that the lights are transitioning to nighttime. I will post some pics.
