Not really a poor generalization at all. Just because you have a fancy job, doesn't change the fact that you might be an inept moron. I know lots of Attorneys, engineers, project managers and IT professionals, that are blithering idiots. I work with them every day.
And people who drink alcohol don't fall into this same category? That's what's so hypocritical about this debate. People can go get completely smashed in a bar sucking down 8 beers or 5 mixed drinks, and nobody has a problem with it. Another person smokes one or two joints and gets the same buzz, and they're considered scumbags and lowlifes. Cali should look at charging more taxes on alcohol consumption if they want to making big bucks. But I'm sure the public outcry would never let that happen.

Not in Kansas

Whatever, a first time offense is a class a misdeamenor. And the smart potheads, keep it in their home and smoke it there...don't know to many DEA officials kicking down doors for a dime bag worth of weed.

Absolutely, but how many people do you know that walk around with a QP? That's a lot of weed and by no means a simple possession charge.
If you were busted with a quarter ounce or even a half would you do any considerable jail time?

1 or 2 joints does not give you a "buzz".
and I do not like people getting smashed on alcohol either...I think they are equally as stupid and a detriment to society.

I kind of agree, and I don't drink...
How many people die from Alcohol related incidents, whether it be drunk driving or what have you. A good portion of police calls involve some sort of alcohol related disturbance. (at least at night) It is a major issue. In our society we ignore it, and pass it off as commonplace. It is a clear double standard.
Or here is a thought, california aught to stop wasting tax dollars on useless garbage...

I'm with stdreb, I have seen too many burnouts. But, I don't care, unlike stdreb. I want potheads to smoke their useless lives away. We're told that legalization will make it safer for everyone, but The Netherlands has become a cauldron of street crime-far worse in the drug zones. But, again, I don't care. I say let them smoke their weed. The potheads will thin their populations and then they will move on to legalize cocaine, then heroine, then... just as they did in The Netherlands. Again, I say do it-just to get rid of the useless bodies that will use it.
+1
You can hardly get away from a smoker these days because there are soo many, imagine half the population smoking pot! Pot is 40 times more dangerous than regular cigarettes!

Yeah, alcohol is dangerous. So, since alcohol is legal, we should start legalizing other dangerous drugs? First it was alcohol and cigarettes, then tobacco, next will be marijuana, then cocaine, then heroine and so on.

Pot makes you lazy, correct? All we need now is half the nation to be lazy and then they all go on welfare, then all working people will be taxed even more to support the lazy pot heads/drug addicts!

Reading the replies to this thread I have deduced that ignorance on this subject is running amok. Pot is 40 times more dangerous than tobacco? Really, do you know anyone who has died from smoking pot. On the other hand, I'm sure everybody knows someone who has died from using tobacco,
my own mother, personally.

Another unfair generalization, what about alcohol and fast food does that make you more ambitous,
A huge source of this coun tires drug problem stems from the fact that we call pot a drug, but not alcohol. We tell you dont do drugs then you try pot and hey no big deal I can handle drugs, Well just try quitting a rwal drug like coke or heroin or even try and get a full blown alcoholic to quit its literally hell. Now try quitting smoking weed and you might get a little hyper and anxious but thats all. Not to mention the huge amount of sorrow caused by too much drinking and REAL Narcotics use cause destoying families, relationships, lives. But alcohol is legal and pot is the devils avenue to enter your soul, oh and research the true reason pot was originally made illegal you can see it stems from the racist culture that was all to prevailent in our early days.

At least in CT possesion under an ounce is a misdemeanor, MA just made that same charge a finable offense, and in england simple possesion has been a class C charge(no jail just a ticket) for over 5 years, progress is on the side of the burnouts now
