a 10.5 Quarter is very very fast.... and its more like 120mph... I think you mean your Durango did a 10.5 either mile.. if it was a R/T would be more likely.....

agreed, 10.5 is quite snappy. My contention is that most Vdubs never hit the real speed brackets. Sure you can toss a VW body on some custom rocket but at that point it is not VW any longer.
10.5 1/8th mile times would most likley be about right for a stock durango. If in the 1/4 thats one quick soccer mom!!

So is 98mph in the quarter fast for a hd3/4 ton crew cab diesel?
It was fun and I made a lot of black smoke

ya that is pretty good for a crew cab diesel... my truck runs 14's on a good day and that's about 105-115mph

10.5 is very fast for a street car . A durango running a 10.5 is very very unlikely . Here are some time slips for durangos . So if your running a 10.5 then you might want to pass on the knowlage to these felas .

I seriously doubt an R/T would either, I can't think of a single non-modified street car that would do that, a vette does around 11.5? To give you an idea of the speeds you're talking about. Until you get to like the F50 or somthing.

When I saw this I was really suprised, but the guy who I was with had build one once and said you can do it with a base of the old VW. I'm sure they stick a VW bug ontop of other stuff too...
It would be fun!

yup they can.. its a bunch of mods and either a 408 in it or a 360 on the juice... there are a few on a site i belong to.. and yes they are 100% street legal
and i just read what you said, the R/T's i mean are heavily modified

lets think about this....
60 mph is a 15 sec quarter mile. (60 mph is a mile-a-minute)
double that
you get 120 mph is a 7.5 sec quarter mile.
average 120 and 60
you get 90 mph is a 11.25 sec quarter mile.
average 90 and 120
you get 105 mph is a 9.375 sec quarter mile.
average 90 and 105
you get 97.5 mph is a 10.3125 sec quarter mile
for simplicities sake, a 10.5 sec quarter mile is about 95 mph. max speed on my Durango is about 90, so if my durango can do it, i cant see it being very hard for other cars.

Sure, you can put a bigger cam, injectors ect on the truck. Based on the my durango does a 10.5 quarter mile at 85 mph statement I was assuming his was pretty close to stock.

You are missing a key component, on a drag strip, you start at 0 and accelerate to the 1/4 point.
a 10.5 quarter mile you'd reach around 128 ish. Depending on the run.
I've never seen a drag race post an speed average?
If you got to 85 on your run, and you actually did a quarter I'd think you'd be in the 16 second range...
BTW I was watching speed or espn a few weeks ago, and saw a 1.8 mile dirt track! It was awesome they were doing it in like 3+ seconds and the friggen rooster tails they would light up were AWESOME!

You dont get a running start
you go from a dead stop at the starting line and you hit the gas when the light goes on . You go as fast as you can for a 1/4 of a mile . Thats a 1/4 mile time .
