what kind of substrate is in your tank also i have made a little list of what i want a blueface angel a dog face and a sfe or a zebra eel and a few other fish as well
I wouldn't mix it. Use just ls as substrate. Keep the established cc in mesh bags in the filter. This will help spread the bacteria to the bio balls quickly. After a little while you could remove the bags of cc.
I use black sand in my tank. It wasn't live when I got it but it is now...
Sounds like a good fish list. You should keep the clown trigger with them. Great fish.
it already has cc so should i put most of it what i can i mesh bags and throw the rest out and then just put plain sand in not live sand(i think i get it am i right) also would the fish still be ok in there when i remove the cc and put it in the wet dry and add the sand
I'd use live sand... speeds up the process.
If the wet dry is currently being used than you may not have any cycle as long as you preserve the bacteria. The bio balls should be moved in water with an airstone to preserve the bacteria.
You may have a slight cycle if you lose the bacteria.
I think the clown trigger would be ok with those fish but there are no guarantees. You'd have to watch it as it gets bigger.
You could... ls does already have some bacteria, though. LS is better if it is an option.
Right now, the bio filter in the tank is bio balls, liverock and cc. If you take out the cc, which you should, you are still losing some biological filtration. This is why I'd try to replace it with live sand.
There's no definite answer to whether the fish would be ok. It depends how much of the bacteria is preserved in the bio balls and liverock. Do the best you can to preserve the bacteria. A lot of people have made the switch from cc to sand without losing fish.
Keep the bio balls submerged in water with an airstone for circulation during the move. Make sure the live rock is also packed in water to reduce the amount of die off... and hope for the best.
should i keep the water that is already in the tank like 50 gallons or so because we will def not be able to lift that much weight i have a big cooler i can put it in and i mean a big cooler
The water is not crucial to keep but I'd keep as much as you can. This will be a pain to move but keeping it will not cause as much shock to the fish when they are moved. Also, make sure the cc is also kept wet.
i planned on leaving just enough water to cover the cc and the cooler full of water is this good also could i transport the fish in the cooler like a live well lol
No problem... you could use vinegar or diluted bleach to clean the cooler. Don't use it if its ever been washed with soap. If it's pretty clean already then you could probably get away with just rinsing it.
