Choosing a LFS

Last week, I decided to check out another LFS other than the one I've been going to for the last year. Let me tell you, I'm glad I did. The new LFS had MUCH more variety, were much more helpful, and their prices were about half of my old LFS.
Go into as many shops as you can and check things out, talk to the workers, etc., and don't settle for the first store you go in to...

That's odd, I thought it was variety. I agree with you Joe, but what else is new. I get coral and inverts from one place, fish from another, and equipment from another place. Every place will have it's pros and cons...

I'm a Rep for an aquarium product, so I have to service all our accounts in the area. Southern California is LOADED with store so I always come home with goodies at the end of the day with stuff from everywhere.

I heard from a LFS and a guy at work that it isn't a good idea to get fish from different places. They said that you want to stay at one LFS so you know what your getting in regards to the health, water and survival rate of the fish. My thought was that if the fish looks good and healthy, then why not get em.

Sometimes looks can be deceiving......BUT if you find a lfs that has good stuff, and all you need...well IMO then you have it made
Most will get you what you want if they can too

The old LFS I went to seemed like they constantly had new employees, and the last time I was in there, I waited for about 45 minutes before I got helped.
So, I decided to look around, and like I said, I'm glad I did.

LOL...I wish I even had that option.....I don't even have one LFS

From what I've heard you say in the past, it sounds like you don't have options for much anything... Do you at least have a store nearby or do you have to milk your own cows/kill your own chickens?

Quick question.
Does anyone buy there fish from more then one LFS?
Nope. Only 1 GOOD store here in buffalo. I wont even look at any of the others after seeing some of the Crud in their tanks.
Also the funniest thing I saw was ***** running Saltwater tank seminars here in town.
Whats so funny you ask.
All of the tanks had either Cyano or dead fish in it.
