Actually it was called nothing as there were no creatures capable of speech at the time to call it anything..........

Not really......but if it was called something it wasn't called Pangea as that is the word in the English language and english isn't THAT old of a language.
Nevermind....it wasn't funny the first time.
Oh, and Bang, stop using your one liners on me.....lol

because the english language didn't exist back then. If anything that could speak existed back then, it was more likely called "grunt grunt huff" or something like that...

Because the English language came about in the 5th century A.D.
When the continents were all one, it was well before the 5th century.

Agreed :) Since Pangea predated the Dinosaurs if it was called anything it would be a noise that can be made underwater. Probably a series of clicks, snaps, and croaks LOL

Right...but, could these "ugg"'s, "oooga"'s, and "ubluba"'s, not have transformed into the phonetic pangea?
I am just saying that it IS possible, but not likely.

Thanks Bang. Pangea was around over 200 million years ago before it started to break apart. the oldest dated human fossil is only 195,000 years old. There for it was impossible for it to be called "pangea" at the time. As there were no creatures roaming the planet capable of pronouncing this sound or word.

Not really because to call or name something would require conciencous thought and then action. Last I checked the land on this world is incapable of thought or speech....wait.
Why are we even discussing this....see what happens when I make a lame joke....
Atleast JD laughed.

Why is it impossible for there to have been a creature capable of prounoncing pangea?

Ok, I will entertain this. Stick your head in your tank and say the word Pangea. It doesn't sound the same. That is why. The fossils found from this time period were all water creatures, or assumed water creatures.

but that doesn't mean that there weren't any land critters...
P.S. I just love to argue...err..."discuss" things!
