Canister filters are nothing but nitrate factories.
I dont know that this ones a myth. Well IMO i do have one that i think works ok but does require a ton of cleaning and def not a good idea for a reef. LOL

Technically it would be a nitrate factory. I mean, is it harmful and bad for a reef, no. But it doesn't really produce nitrate. It does do an excellent job at ammonification and nitrification, but unlike live rock it doesn't help with denitrification. It should not have a bad rap as adding one will not increase your nitrates levels.
Just my two cents. Nitrate factory is not a good term to use. Nitrification factory is more like it.

A clownfish cannot survive without an anemone.
An anemone cannot survive without a clownfish.
Clownfish are extinct, buy captive raised. (even thought that's not true...buy captive raised lol)
You can replace all of your tanks filtration with a turf algae scrubber and it will be better than before.
If you can feed a mandarin on frozen food, then you don't need to worry about pods.
Bigger tanks are easier to keep.
Bristles worms are bad.
hermit crabs are bad.
you can't have too much light or flow.
Drinking ro water is bad for you (it's a conspiracy I tell ya!)
Fish are friends not food.
Btw, my clownfish decided to try and feed my feather duster a second ago. Very very funny to watch.

The point is canister filters get a bad rap. I mean, is it bad if you don't clean them for 2-3 months? Yes, of course.
I just don't hear anyone pointing out those crud-infested pads people leave between their sump baffles as nitrate factories.

either or.
I've heard both.
Supposedly both are stripped of nutrients to the point that they are hungry and obsorb nutrients from you body and dispose of them.
