Cyano question/theory

Like I said before...It's not that bad...it's just that I have it at all....I seem to be controlling it, as in the fact that it is not getting worse..
Flower...I have phospure pads in my canister.....I also have phosguard, but will not use it cause I can not seem to find out if it is safe for horses...I will continue to do my water changes...and hope for the best

I love sea horses.
Me too...I was so disappointed when I started researching them and realized they had to be in their own tanks, but then after I got this 225, the Not so lfs had a reef tank (the 54g) FOR SALE.....so I bought that for my horse tank
...when I got my 1st set of 2 I was so nervous...but they are so pretty....I am not sure when I will get more thought ($$$$$$$) I have so many things going on...so they are on my list...which is long

Absolutely Pez, I did and I hear ya. Like I said, it is a matter of degree. I.e. what's a good chemical, what's a bad one?
As stated upthread, it's more of a mental crutch to have it on hand. It helps me relax and let it run its course.
I've never had a tank where it didn't happen - but - it's also been 25 years since I had a tank, so I don't exactly remember the progression.
I know it'll go away.
I do, absolutely, appreciate the support, and it's good to know from others more experienced than I, that I'm not the only one who's suffering from this... If we can help each other, hey --- that was the point of my post.

Thx,
Emil

I don't wan't to highjack a thread. I really want to know how to start a sea horse tank, what they eat and how to go about it. I see tall glasses in some of the sea horse tanks for feeding. Can you PM me, or start a new thread about them? I can't be the only one on the forum who would like to know.

Best thing to do is go to the seahorse section...There is a lot of info there...I learned all I know from there

Hmmm meowzer, that's a good question.
Geographically, I am not. I am southern German. However, ethnically, that's essentially the same as northern Italian.
Late Roman Empire/early Dark Ages history is one of my fascinations, but this is, perhaps, not the forum within which to discuss that

hehe,
now that we're WWAAYY off topic,
the name is pretty much universally European - Emilio, Emiliano, Emilé etc. (thank god it wasn't Adolph...)
And yes, Pez - you're not far off the mark. I was named after my Aunt Emily
K, there will be no more making fun of my name - Otherwise I will
get you back

w00t! Progress!
yesterday did 5 gal water change (25%). Siphoned the sand, stirred it up real good (my sand bed is less than an inch deep) and then ran the Magnum HOT w/ the micron filter (no diatomaceous earth) for 5-6 hrs.
In the morning, the sand is always clear. The slime starts to show itself almost immediately when the actinics come on, and gets really prevalent once the daylites do.
It's not nearly as bad today. Between Chemi-Elite, Purigen and fresh RODI, I think I'm beating it...
(crosses fingers, which makes typing really difficult)
Now I just gotta get rid of the fleas my cat brought home...

Good For you. Keep it up, it will never go away the next day...it's just not going to happen like that. It looks like you realize this, and the fact that it isn't as prevalent is a great thing.

You're on your way, keep it up and you won't even be able to remember what cyano looks like soon enough.

Ha haha!
I just got two of these from SWF: https://www.saltwaterfish.com/site_11...ot_parent_id=4
Gorgeous critters and started to work on my Cyano immediately on release into the tank.
I'm still doing water changes, and things are slowly getting better, but - Awesome!
Glad to hear that for you...I can't get any of those crabs since the cyano is in my horse tank

IDK what the problem is...nothing seems to be helping for me

Do you have a phosban reactor?
Good for you. Good luck with your cyano. I'm glad to hear it's starting to go away.
