I'm actually not going to run any filter on this tank. I'm only going to add a hang on back filter on for a few hours when I do water changes to clear the water up. I'm trying to make this tank look as clean as possible with minimal equipment.

That actually sounds cool..
I have read in books that Live Rock is really the only filtration you need..
I want pics!

There is still nothing in the tank. I'm waiting for my lights which should be here next week. I already bought the live rock and is curing in a bucket at the moment. I still haven't decided on what I want to use for flow. I was thinking about two hydor koralia nano, but I'm not sure that is going to be enough. I'm open to anyones opinion on what I should get.

So how do you have good flow and what not if you don't have any cords hanging over? Do you have to do frequent water changes since there are no filtration to keep the water clean, or are there no fish in the tank? Sounds like an interesting idea.

I understand that I'm going to have a couple chords hanging over for the pumps... I may just add a colored background to hide them.
if you think about it when we do the filter mod on our all-in-one tanks we replace the filter media with live rock. I will still be doing weekly water changes; this should be enough to keep the tank clean and healthy. However, I will be adding a HOB filter with a bag of carbon for a few hours whenever I do water changes just to remove any debris that I can kick up.

This is very true. Didn't realy think about it I guess. On my 10 g I only have an AQ with some LR rubble and cheato for filtering/cleaning. Well good luck I'm sure it will look great like usual.

what made you not buy the solana tank made by current usa? Since it has a filtration system in the back as well as automatic top off bottle. Pretty cool. Plus they both look the same...was it the price?

I considered buying the solana, but I didn't like the dimensions of the tank... I thought is was too tall.
The Solana is also a little too expensive for me.
