not to say mines the only way to do things there are many experienced reefers out there with different styles and practices i can give u info on what works for my tank and some specs of the equipment i use on the tank and u can kinda compare to other people and see what u think might and might not work for ur own setup
BTW a zoo tank sounds cool ive always kinda wanted a softy only tank with lots of zoos
anyways heres some info on my tank
180G main display tank
i dont know exact size of sump but it probably holds about 20-25 gallons while its running
ASM-G4 skimmer with mesh modification to the needlewheel
a 18W UV filter
phosphate reactor
MRC-CR2 calcium reactor
auto top off system with fresh RO/DI water and Kalk
run lots of cheato in the sump and 2 bags of chemi pure carbon changed monthly
i do a 30G water change every 4-6 weeks with tropic marin salt
tank has about 200-225lbs LR
120lbs fiji pink LS
i have a closed loop with an oceans motion 4 way running a Dart pump
SEIO 1500 and 820
pan world 1000px-x return pump
3-phoenix 14K 250W HQI bulbs in PFO pendants ran by PFO HQI ballast
battery backup system incase power goes out it will keep return pump on for about 6 hours
generator outside incase it goes out longer
1/2hp chiller
300W heater
thats about it for tank i think
i feed my fish every day mainly mysid some formula 1 cubes some nori and my pink tail trigger and fuzzy dwarf lion get a cocktail shrimp every 3 - 4 days
hope that helps a lil ***)
Where's the jaw dropping icon when you need it?? That's awesome. Yeah it'll take me awhile. Right now I stay home full time with my daughter, but hopefully in a few months the Police Department will have hired me and i'll be able to pay for starting this dang thing up! I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out. What's the livestock you have in the tank? I've got two false percs, royal gramma, yellowhead sleeper, and a CB shrimp.

I bought some fiji or bermuda pink sand..however it did have little tiny pink pieces of sand or coral or something in there so if you were to break it down grain by grain it'd be like 20 grains of regular to 1 grain of pink sand. crazy eh?

I like that. Good mix. How's the leopard wrasse? I've heard they can be somewhat aggressive. I've been wanting to try a wrasse and hoping to do so in the 90.

haha yeah it's crazy when you look at in compared to just regular sand, it definitely gives it the slightest pink tint. I like it.

Murph, what type of clam is that huge one? How big was it when you originally purchased it? How big is it now? How long have you had it?
:notsure:

wow yeah, gorgeous wrasse. I may have to try it. Gosh. I'm feeling awful. Someone got my daughter sick, she got me sick and I've got a test for the police department on saturday where i've gotta run a mile and half. So as much as I'd love to keep talking i'm gonna have to get some rest. I appreciate everything and I saved your email so you'll hear from me either here or there. Take care and have a great night Murph!
Jason.

hahaha yeah puffer i know what u mean i always get a lil too close and have to wipe the lens down afterwards lol
but it worked out in the end
saltnoob.... are u talkin about the pink one or the darker redish pink one?? neither are rare IMO im not totally sure lol but i got the red tabling milli as an aquacultured piece a while back i almost killed it twice and it turned completely brown now its growing fast and doing awesome ....
the other pink milli i got as a frag from another reefer for $10 for a 1-2" piece i almost killed that one too lol i had issues with the salt i was using at the time and my Alk levels due to that salt mix.... anyways its now growing fast and has turned into a nice baby pink color with some blue hints on the tips...
