I was wondering on your closed loop you have a OM wavemaker,
I have the same thing on my 75 as well , what I'm going to be doing is converting everything over to my 110 gal soon.
ok my question is I'm thinking of having the tank drilled, 1 hole in the middle about 6-8" from the top for the drain to the pump then back to the top and running to the 4 corners of the tank.
would this be a good plan for the closed loop or do you have another idea, I've been tossing this around for a long time to make sure I do it right.
what do you you have for a CL setup?
thanks for the help.

what type of pump are u guna be running on your closed loop??
sounds like a good idea but id run the drain hole a lil lower like 8-10" off the bottom panel centered that way it can evenly suck water from the lower part of the tank ....
the returns sound fine its all a matter of prefference....
as for my tank i have 2-1" holes drilled on the center of the panels one on each side of the overflow box centered in the back panel.... they come out and 90 to the center where they join up in a 2" T then straight down to my Sequence Dart pump that shoots the water straight back up to my OM-4 way which sits at top of the tank then the four returns 2 up top and 2 in the back upper hand panels but i lowered them down using PVC to give more midsection flow in the tank... seems to work out pretty good IMO

Gorgeous pics murph
I am starting to not like you.................LOL
I think I need to get a calc reactor for my tank. I am also thinking of using the 2 part solution. I have read alot about it and it seems to work very well, I just can't justify the cost of a reactor if the two part will work. I am gonna try it first, damn turbo calcium is eating up some funds.

2 parts do work well just gotta figure uut how much to dose a day i like the reactor cuz its less maintenance and for how much CA and ALK my tank uses id be spending more in the long run on 2 part than the cost of the reactor
thanks hows ur tank been doin jon?

everything does good except for the acro's. I have monti caps and hydnophora in there along with all kinds of softies and lps and clams. They all do great. My calcium stays steady, it is just my alk and ph I cant get ahold of. I have tried and tried and asked and asked and still can't figure it out.
DRIVIN ME NUTS
All the fish and inverts are great and healthy....I just may not be meant to keep acro's

Murph...
heres what i'm going to run for my closed loop return pump.
Coralife Turbosea 1100 gph high pressure pump. i'm going to mount it right under the stand to get the most pressure.
my other question was , i've talked to many people and everyone has different opinions about the 2 holes compared to 1, most say 1 the same size as the return in, which would be 1", i was planning on having the same exact plan as you have, with 2 90's down to the return then back to the top and across the top. i havent configured how much loss i'll have with the runs to the corners and the same amount of 90's youy have.
as far as the holes you have, in reading do you have them drilled in the sides of the returns or the back of the back of the tank ?
do you have a pic, that would be great

thanks a lot :joy:

interesting whats ur alk at??
IME alk is the biggest downfall of sps corals they seem very sensative to alk too much they die to little they die if it changes too fast they die man they just die if anything like that happens....
what issues have u noticed when the acros go downhill .... how do they die??

hey ill throw some pics up so u can kinda see how mines plummed... yeah u just wanna try and match the intake of ur pump to the hole in the back of ur tank that way it can suck as much as it can.... i did two seperate holes so i got even section from behind both sides of the tank and through the rock work to better utilize its natural filtration....
sounds like ur on the right track its just what u personally wanna go with... u could always use spa flex PVC to cut down on 90's so u dont loose alot of head pressure
pics
back of tank u can see the two intake holes in the middle of the back panel one on each side of my overflow box they come out T up in a 2" T then straight down to my pump then back up in a 1.5" pipe to the OM unit

then this is the top of the tank u can see in the back the silver drum is the OM 4way and its returns
