Did my horse conch eat my snails?

I bought a horse conch from this sight....labeled as "peaceful algea eaters". I also bought two fancy nassarius snails at the same time that have mysteriously died. I have never seen the conch anywhere near anything else in the tank...alway on the glass...I assumed eating algae..but I was considering adding another to the tank and in doing some research (that I probably should have done prior to the first order) online I see that they are predatory to other invertabrates. What do you think? Anybody else had trouble with these guys??

Can you give me a link to the Conch you purchased from here? I can't find where they are for sale here.
A Horse Conch would eat a Nassarius but I doubt it could catch a healthy one. Have you actually seen the empty Nassarius shells? Do the shells have any holes in them?

sorry, I have already thrown away the empty shells...I don't recall any holes in them however....I was suspicious they were dead because they were usually quite active and had both been inactive for a couple of days, also, my ammonia and nitrites were rising so I knew something was up... so I netted one and as soon as it came out of the water the smell was atrocious! I should also say though that this was around the time I had also lost a couple of fish...had an unexplained alkalinity spike?? so this could also explain the loss of the snails...the horse conch could be innocent!

not really sure how to do the link thing, but if you go to "inverts" and scroll down to conchs, there are only a few to choose from...one in the horse conch...the ones for sale here are from 2-4" Thanks for your help...I don't think the shells had any holes in them...although they smelled so bad I threw them out pretty fast!!

since your talking about conch's and nobody anwered by thread about spot feeding a fighting conch please dont be offended if i jump in. i bought a F. conch for diatoms, tank is 95 gal 2 + year old etc. it did a great job btw. my question is should i spot feed and if so with what? tried green algae strips tied to rubble rock with 0 luck. oh and how often? it's about 3.5 inches long and a lil over 2 inches high. it's constantly grazing the sand bed but diatom are 99% gone.

If they smelled that bad then it may not have been the Conch. I don't think a Horse Conch would leave enough of the flesh to actually rot. Nassarius are really fast snails so it would be unusual for them to be such easy prey.
I was looking for them under "Snails"
