OK, so the new year is over and done with and I am just wondering how many of us stayed on track for the #1 resolution, losing weight? So, is anyone here still trying to lose weight and what are you doing to accomplish your goals? What have you tried and found to have little success with?

I have gained 10 lbs, but my goal was to get my body fat % down...was at 18% now at 17%... muscle weighs more than fat, and also helps burn it... I guess I am on track

I don't do new years resolutions, what's the point when almost nobody sticks to them anyway. And why wait till a year from now to fix something that needs fixed right away?
I've been on basically the same diet for about 3-4 years now. I've never really been heavy or overweight (pretty high metabolism), but I do get a little belly fat if I don't pay attention to my health. My diet is to eat healthy (99% of the time, I slip sometimes) during the work week (mon-fri), then eat pretty much what I want starting friday night through sunday.
Staying active helps a ton too. And not necessarily just working out. Cleaning the house, cutting the grass, lugging 50 lb buckets of water from downstairs to do water changes, any physical work counts.

hmmm... i've also been on a diet for about a year now... hehehe. I'm not good at sticking to them, but i have lost a total of 17lbs!
i'm looking to lose about 10-15 more.
I also have a lot of toxins in my body because i don't eat healty at all... so right now i'm on a raw fruits & veggies diet for 2 weeks to flush any toxins from my system. Water is the only thing i will drink. This will also double to help me lose weight.
I also work out at the gym for an hour every day after work (at least i try to...). I'm like hag, i'm not overweight, but i do have that annoying belly flub, and a big butt that i'm trying to minimize.

Oh, and as for what I eat...
I probably don't tend to pick the healthiest possible foods available, a lot of times I'll just pick better than average foods. I drink mostly diet soda and water (sometimes OJ too). I snack a lot and that is usually low salt nuts or sunflower seeds, pretzels, baby carrots, grapes, and random fruit/vegatables. Sometimes I'll have some baked potato chips for a snack too. For breakfast I eat dry cereal a lot (usually cheerios, not the heathiest, but not the worst either), sometimes I add blueberries for extra nutrition. If I feel like it I'll make a bacon/egg/cheese sandwich using low fat turkey bacon, 2% cheese, and whole wheat bread. I have a small frozen lean cuisine type meal for lunch usually. Then for supper I cook something that includes a healthy meat, some good veggies, lots of protein, and not too much fat.
When considering how healthy a food is I mostly look at calories (per serving, and serving size), protein, fiber, fat, carbs. I pay more attention to fiber than most I think. I also look at sodium and vitamins and minerals, but don't worry too much about those usually. I try to take a multi-vitamin too.

I've totally stuck to mine and I plan on never quitting now. Been a little over two months now and i've lost 20 lbs. The funny part is... if you saw me you would totally wonder how someone like me could lose that kinda weight :p
I cut out all the soda that I was drinking and only drink water now and a glass of milk every other day - thats all for drinks.
For a while I was just cutting WAYYYY back on what I was eating.. i'd seriously go to su
ay and buy two footlong subs and eat them both within a hour. Now if I get a sub I get a footlong but I make two meals out of it (6 inch a meal). I was also throwing a lot of tuna
into my diet. A friend of mine said that in the army they told her to eat tuna to try and help her lose weight... so I decided to do the same.. it apparently works wonders! I like eating spaghetti a lot.. but I used to eat WAYYYY too much.. like two huge bowls of it. Now when I eat spaghetti I measure out exactly one cup full of noodles and pour over just enough sauce to slightly cover the noodles... and i'd throw in a whole clove of garlic because I am a retard ;) also I was eating a lot of raw veggies and bananas/apple sauce and other horrible horrible things :p
While I was dieting I was also running. I started out by jogging a mile every other day and now I am up to two miles and this saturday I plan on going for 3 miles.
The funny thing is.. now that I lost all that weight I am trying to gain more muscle now so I bought some weight gainer and I am gonna use that while I work out to gain mass... i'll let you all know how that works :p
By the way and on a side note... if anybody is 'wise' to those protein weight gainer shakes and how to use them as best as possible... please feel free to speak! I purchased some stuff made with 'whey powder' because I was told that was good stuff.

My diet program is all about sitting at the computer all day, agonizing over the joy people are having online, and sending people to play flutes by clicking buttons.

speg, protein shakes don't really do much... you can get just as much protein from chicken and tuna, without all of the extras protein shakes come with... there's a lot of sugars and fat in them, and that's extra stuff you really don't need
you should also eat carbs during your work-outs, as they provide you energy... you want to eat complex carbs, though, such as noodles, rather than simple carbs like sugars.

yeah, so yesterday was the first day of that all veggie & fruit diet... i can't do it. I ate grapes for breakfast, a bell pepper for lunch, and when i got home for dinner, the thought of any more fruits or vegetables just made me nausious...
oh well, i'll have to just drink a lot of water and go back to the diet i was on before

jd, since you mention bell pepper, maybe you'll like this for something a little different. Cut up one bell pepper and one onion into bite size pieces, pour a little olive oil into a skillet and cook the onion and pepper in the oil for maybe 5 minutes or so. I sprinkle some black pepper on it. Garlic or garlic powder might be good too. But thats a pretty healthy way to take in some veggies in a little different manner.
I usually do this with green bell peppers (since they're cheaper), but I've been incorporating yellow, orange, and red for some variety lately. They're all just a little different.

mmmmm, that sounds really really good!!! I'll have to try it.
i'll also cut up some tomatos, cucumbers, and onions... put them in a bowl, and pour some fat free italian dressing on them

Well.. I dunno about that. My friend used them and he bulked up fast and good. This bodybuilder chick that is friends with my sister just gave me some samples of protein drinks to use and she says they'll work fine... and you should see this chick.. she could probably beat me up so fast =c( lol
