Do you think Obama should have called the Cambridge Police Stupid?

your all knit picking IMO, because overall he's doing what he said he would do and doing a good job. the stock market is rising, major banks are reporting earnings, the housing market is picking up and we are fighting terrorism where its bred in Pakistan and Afghanistan. he's saying all the right things and regaining our respect globally. and you guys have a long thread about what he said regarding a guy who was breaking into his OWN house and had an arguement with some cops?
you know why? because its the only negative thing out there... so have at it! lol. "he hates cops" "he doesnt respect law enforcement or the troops" lol, lol, lol.
btw i have no problem with what he said or how he said it. just for the record.
WOW, so how was mars?

Well, it seems now that this drama is heating up. Apparently the witness who called to 911 to report a possible breaking and entering refutes that she ever said anything about IDing the suspects as being black, and denies ever speaking to the police officer face-to-face....two important details that completely refutes what the officer put in his report. The 911 recording backs up that she never mentioned "black" but, actually thought one may be Hispanic.
Getting very interesting. This certainly puts a nasty kink to the officier's story, and his report. This could end in a lawsuit afterall.

Well I am back... its been a while.. just thought I'd see what topics were being discussed... My opinion of this matter is that Obama was asked a direct question on the matter, which he had some insight on... His opinion was a personal opinion, which in hindsight he should perhaps have not commented on. However, the comment has opened up a dialouge which I believe will have a positive impact.
In regards to the officer.. his actions should be called to question. Once Mr Gates showed his ID, and it was established that he was in his residence, the officer could have simply said thank you and left... Mr Gates had a right to be angry given the situation... The charge is that Mr Gates was creating a scene;which in my opinion the presence of multiple police cars at the scene is what caused people to gather to see what was going on... When the officer arrived and saw that no laws were being broken his job is too take the higher road because he is the person with authority.. and his job is to protect and serve.

I think two enormous egos clashed and the guy with the badge and gun won.I think if they could get a do over ,they both would have reacted differently.Having said that Obama should have just stayed clear of this issue because as he even said he wasnt there and didnt have all the facts.Just another reasons to doubt his ability to lead.He just blindly rushes into irrational actions and is blinded by his own prejudices.

I fixed your post to more accurately reflect Obama's position.
According to the police report, he did leave the residence, only to have Gates follow him, and verbally attack him, and threaten him...

Stock Market---Yes going up, because banks reported higher earnings. Also because the rich guys with all the money are now buying up more stock at a lower price and making more money.....this is only short term...
Banks reported higher earnings---yes, because they kept the bailout money and aren't handing out ANY loans, of course they will have higher earnings, the govt. gave them those earnings from your pocket.
housing market picking up---sure it is, because banks are selling houses under what are called short sales...meaning they lose money, lets see how it looks after these short sales are gone.
World respect? Seriously? Bow to another world leader will not gain you respect, it makes you look inferior. N. Koreo has fired off more nuclear test missles in the last 6 months than the past 10 years.....I am thinking N. Korea isn't respecting us at all....
10% UNEMPLOYMENT....enough said.

I don't know if the cop had to arrest this fool but after reading the report I am a whole lot less inclined to say the cop messed up. I bet those guys get a belly full of these elitist faculty members throwing the "Do you know who I am?" crap on them.
I see the Obama apologist squad is in full crisis mode. His arrogance got the best of him again. He made a stupid comment and should have just said so and apologized but instead he just tried to side step it.
What amazes me is the man will deny saying stuff 2 minutes after he said it like when he was blaming the Republicans for his health care fiasco and then during the same news conference said he didn't blame the Republicans. I am not so sure this episode wasn't a deliberate attempt to take the focus off health care reform which is floundering.

I don't know if they released the radio traffic but the police report says when he talked to the caller on the scene she said 2 blacks, not that he was responding to a call about 2 blacks. I also believe the woman who saw them entering isn't the one who made the call, she asked another woman with a cell phone to do so. It is possible this woman did say 2 black males when talking to the cop. Not sure but it doesn't change the fact that gates was acting like a jerk. I think a lawsuit would be a long shot. It isn't like the cop wasn't provoked.

People tend to stretch the truth when talking to the cops...
Ever listened to a cop investigate a car accident?

yes because - cant give the guy credit, make up an excuse
yes because - cant give the guy credit, make up an excuse
btw banks have begun paying back stimulus money. some have already paid in full.
world respect -you gotta be kidding me right? Obama is the most recognised and well liked political figure in the ENTIRE WORLD! they come in mass on every continent to see him and hear him. every major power wants to work with him/us including Russia, China, and Japan. you talk about N. Korea? Bush bombed Afghanistan back into the stone age and invaded Iraq on the basis that he had clear evidence that Saddam had WMD's, meanwhile Kim Jong was building nukes right out in the open and testing them while daring us to do something about it. he wouldnt have these nukes to test if Bush was doing his job for the last EIGHT years (not 6 months) instead of invading oil rich countries who were NO THREAT!
and we wouldnt have the financial crisis if he did DEREGULATE the banks and spend billions on unessary wars that created more enemies and ruined our reputation around the globe. Barrack is fixing your guy's mistakes and in 6 short months he's done a pretty darn good job.
unemployment 10% - thats right about what it was when Bush left office. again Obama inherited these problems, he promised jobs, permanent good jobs that cant be outsourced. i believe he'll deliver because so far his track record proves so.

You can't be serious. It is up almost 3% since odumba got elected. And around 4 million more people are unemployed since then too. But then again, what are facts to stand in your way.
I'm watching jobs in my industry get outsourced (and good jobs too) purely because of reaction to Obama's plans.

1. What direct action did he do that brought the stock markets up? Other than the banks showing a huge profit and bringing up the market what else changed? Nothing. So the bank Profit can be more acreditted to Bush since he asked for and passed THAT bailout, which I am still against and see as foolish waste of money since the banks aren't loaning any money still.
2. See above post. Lets further expand. The banks are showing a profit, Yes. Yet Bank of America is shutting down 10% of its banks thus laying off those people as well....Go Obama! The banks payback that stimulus money at the cost to the worker...NOT the "fat greedy" CEOS Obama expresses about so much.
3. Yeah, that is intelligent, everyone loves him because he doesn't stand up to them. I would love my neighbor also if he gave me what I wanted everytime I saw him and asked for something.

Invade N. Korea when they HAVE NUKES? There is intelligence out shining on your part. We invaded Iraq to prevent them from gaining nukes at the time. N. Korea had them...now they are firing more and more long range missles. Which the were not firing at will before. Gee, what changed?
When Bush left office the unemployment rate was a little over 7%.
His track record proves he will delivery permanent jobs that can't be outsourced? What track record?

If obama ever makes a sudden stop he is going to have to go to a parasitologist to have your head removed. I guess you missed the clip of the people in the recieving line refusing to shake Obama's hand.

As far as the great stock market move where is it? I track the market every day. The dow was at 9629 on the day he was elected. It dropped about 20% from there and is now coming back. It was oversold and the smart money has moved in to pick up the bargains. No miracle, just cold hard facts of the market.

I wonder if he thought the economy was bad when unemployment was 4% and the stock market was over 14k...
If I wasn't lazy I'll bet you i could go back and find him lambasting the economy during that time...

you guys crack me up! you act like all of this mess started on Jan 10th or something. all of these problems, from housing, to jobs, to the stock market, were all caused by Bush and a GOP run congress for 6 years. i mean COME ON! you all know this. for 18 months Bush said over and over were NOT in a recession, than on his way out... oops my bad, we are facing a deep recession unless we pass a stimulus asap. his deregulation and outsourcing caused the financial, housing, and job crisis'es and his wars ran the defecit to where it is. Obama has been Pres for 6 months! and his job is to fix the mess your guy left.
btw Obama is having officer Crowley and professor Gates at the white house for a beer to discuss how all three could have handled the situation better. how COOL is that?

The reason Bush was saying we weren't in a recession for 18 months is because we weren't

Are you lefties going to attack Obama for kicking back and drinking a beer like you did Bush for playing golf?
The situation could have been handled better if gates hadn't acted like an arrogant ass.
