Anyone else do this at your house during the holidays?

We just heard about it this year....Can't believe we have not done this before. Our oldest two are too far gone, but my youngest (and me) are having a BLAST with it...

Here's where he popped up today...

You guys put him in different spots every day? That is awesome!!! I find it funny that the older two boys are "too far gone" yet you and your little one are on the same page

Yes...it's kind of a mixture between Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. He was sent by Santa to keep an eye on all the kids, and report back to Santa. He magically moves during the night, showing up in a different spot.
And yes, I'm all into this kind of thing

My youngest is SOOO excited every morning to get up and start looking. The older two look as well, but they are just looking for the game. There is no joy better than seeing my youngest search with all honesty and awe in his eyes...

We started elf on a shelf last year. I would have thought my 9 year old would be too old for it but she loves it! He popped up Thanksgiving night this year. Cant wait to see where he pops up tomorrow!

OMG....we have done this for years with a Annalee elf. Last year was our "last year" for Santa.
My son officially did not believe but pretended to believe for us. We have used our Annalee elf every year and had a great time. Last year both kids looked for it and we continued. I will get it out this week and place it strategically in the house until Christmas.

That is a cool idea! I wish I knew about it when my kids were young. I am kind of thinking about doing it for my son, who might like it, but I know that the elf would get too tired some night and forget to move.
Keep up the pictures, they are cool!

Has anyone seen the Twilight Zone episode with the doll? I can picture putting him away after the holidays in a box in the garage and then him appearing day after day, no matter how many times I put him away.... just looking at me.
O.O

so when are you going to hide him in the tank?
I'll try to tie that in at some point, but he won't be in the water

I'm sure he's going to forget to move at some point. Heck, the tooth fairy around here is sometimes 3, 4 days late

As I walked in the door tonight my kids were screaming with excitement, "Phineas is coming tonight!" Phineas is our elf on a shelf and he is a big hit.

I miss those days.... all I hear is screams of "I need the car keys! Where's my allowance".
